7 Series [Spy shots] BMW 7er (G11) Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.

Let's put things into RIGHT perspective, shall we? :)

Same shitty pics of G11 vs W222. Now they are comparable.

Well done Eni :eusa_clap:eusa_clap
But more like same shitty angle, because the MB is cleaner than clean and under show floor lights and with the LED lights on, the BMW has none of that.

Maybe we should make an early S vs 7er thread in Internal combustion after all, so we can keep this one clean!!

Will get all new 7 the same exhaust pipes? I thought when I saw this pipes the first time at a spy pic it would be new designed pipes for the 8 cylinder cars.

Keep in mind that China is the first market for the 7 series and chinese taske are différent than the one in Europe or even US ... So more chrome means more luxurious

Then maybe BMW should have done what Jaguar are intending to do with the XJ replacement, LWB more upright version for China and a more sporting version like the current model for the rest of the world.

Well the 9er "VFL" is supposed to be that, and otherwise we always have the next gen 6er GC.

Nevertheless I like the 7 more. Also under this circumstances. :)

At least with this angle you see how awkward every big sedan looks, so I am a bit less worried.

I tried to collect the 7er sales numbers through the years in thousands:
96-52,5
97-51,4
98-47,9
99-43,5
00-40,3
01-33
02-50,9
03-57,9
04-47,7
05-50
06-50,2
07-44,4
08-38,8
09-52,7
10-65,8
11-68,8
12-59,2
13-56
The results are strongly connected with the release of each new generation of S class. I don't have time to extract the numbers of the S class but I know that in some years the 7er beat it (like in 2011). Oh, and I have my personal contribution in 98 and 04

And when the cover gets dirty you need a windscreen wiper for the cover, but I am sure your S class has that 'covered'.
Well....Next month I will make an year since I drive W222...and the camera cover is the best thing...

I also own an E71 and I always find the camera dirty, a very big issue ,due to the fact that E71 , 7 series and S class have big fat ....

I like the solution of VW.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Thanks @klier, I was about to post this official pic from the F12 back in 2010..

Also, this trunk opening handle devised within the roundel is basically the same system design used 7 years earlier on the E63/E64, whereas instead of having a camera, you find the key to lock/unlock trunk manually; I never used that in mine so I'm guessing the key to camera switch on the next generation F12/F13 was genius!
..And many car manufacturers took note and started copying it... like on that VW pic above, and the new GLE Coupe.. and the new S-Class Coupe, and so on...

The new G11 is an evolution progression on the F01 but with new standalone info screen and metal affect buttons, AC controls and light switch. It has the nicest looking steering wheel of the 3 generation of 7 series models and has a nice combination with shiny wood vaneer with metal border strips.

The G11 steering wheel is heavily influenced by the one from VFL.

The differend colour trim is depending of the ordered colour combination. You can combine some leather seats with a dark interior or an interior in the same colour. For example "leather oyster" is possible with an oyster coloured interior ( the whole interior is in oyster ) or with a black coloured interior. In this case the door panels also in different coloured trim.
In combination with other leather colours the interiors are generally in the same colour or in different colours.

Here we have a F01 and a F10. But both pics are only for illustration.

Thanks Rainer, you are right they will have different interior colours and mixes of colours depending on how the car is speced. Maybe if we had a picture of a G11 with the two toned door panels it may look better.

Sheesh, so many naysayers......

I see no reason for people to take exception over this car, so now, let's wait for the official release pictures.

Couldn't agree more.

Enthusiasts like us should really be aware of the time many designs need to grow on people and of the fact that fotographs can be misleading and a layperson's intuition can be wrong. Before writing the G11 off, let it hit the market.

But we are allowed to have a bad taste in our mouths :D
For the rest, I completely agree. It will probably look much better once the official pics start dropping in.

No doubt it will. This is some low spec pre production model interior.

@Busty

Although at least in US market (and some other as well) 7er sales seem to be hit hard ... by Tesla S success. Luxury sports sedan market is much more effected by Tesla S than eg. Luxury comfort sedan market (eg. S-class). Tesla S is premium & hi-tech ... a true "new luxury" - something Audi so desperately tries to be (in US market).

The G11 steering wheel is heavily influenced by the one from VFL.

I wish the rest of the interior could also have been heavily influenced by the VFL as it really would have looked revolutionary and fantastic.:(

The interior is a major let down for me, exterior wise is exactly what was expected to be from the spy shots.
BMW could have put in just a little bit more afford in term of design, and this car would have been uncompeatable.

So with this complete leaked, dose this sets the new launch date?
