Showing off F70 as the Range Ceiling M135 and the entry level which might seem
Like some joke? But no entry level 1er are bought as First BMW, first car and high school graduation gifts apparently.
It’s a configuration not too far off from
What is achieved with the ICE MINI. Everything is familiar but everything is all changed.

Have seen the car. It really makes the F40 look rather nice.

The proportions are really odd, even if they are basically the same as for the outgoing model, but the new design details make the F70 look rather quirky.

To me, it gives some serious FIAT Grande Punto & Tipo vibes, which is not great at all. BMW design at it lowest, cost-cutting at its best - the whole car looks and feels rather cheap, which is no reason to demand extra premium over the F40. The headlight lost a lot of character through design over-simplification, which the previous DRLs reduced now to some uninspired stripes. As well, the rear lamps are a reinterpretation of those on the U10 X2. More rounded and having a catastrophic visual effect on the rear end, overall.

On the inside, there’s an evolution of the dashboard design premiered on the U06/U10/U11. Yet, some materials look really tacky and low-cost. I would have expected a more premium approach, like on the 2 Series AT.

As well, the deletion of the “i” letter of gasoline versions makes the whole logo look incomplete and unfinished.

A single design detail looks relatively ok - the “1“ embosed in the Hofmeister kink, similar the “5” from the G60.

Conclusion? Bad, just bad.

You don’t like the “Circular” Kidney Grille?

No, not at all. Looks rather cheap and unimaginative, at least in this iteration on the F70. Too much tacky black accents - if they had gone for the classic “chrome“ look, it would have looked better. But nowadays, everything is about that shitty and boring ”black chrome”. This approach is really tiring from a visual point of view.
