Far too popular for that my friend.

Depends on what you call popular. It isn't in the BMW line, despite being the cheapest model on sale. X1 outsells it like 3 to 1.

It actually is a very low volume for BMW, it always hangs in the very last part of the German top 50 (which I take for reference), if it even makes the the chart.

Worst 1er ever for sure, but probably also the worst selling 1er and the least succesful BMW for what it intends to be (a volume car)

The A-Class is about to leave the market. Since this F70 is nothing but a FL of the current car, maybe BMW could follow MB here in 4-5 years.

The FWD offering should be limited to X1/X2. The rest just sucks.

BMW will likely have a production version of that compact EV to replace the i3 and 1er together.

If Germany is your benchmark;

VW GOLF 81,117
Audi A3 34,686
Seat LEON 27,066
Ford FOCUS 25,115
Opel ASTRA 25,093
A-KLASSE 21,026
Kia CEED 20,938
BMW 1ER 20,485
Toyota COROLLA 12,945
Hyundai I 30 11,763
Renault MEGANE 8,865
Citroen C4 7,647
Peugeot 308 5,837
Mazda 3 3,760

It could be better, but it's mid-table in terms of sales. Rather than cancel it... they could just make it better.

And worst if you only consider the German cars/VAG

And you can't make a better FWD hatch, they all are flawed to begin with and you can't break physics.

Of course they can make it better - of the list of 10 top alternatives CarWow published it's got the lowest score - your average car buyer that isn't trying to flex on being some kind of RWD-Bro hero, they're looking at stuff like this and if the badge isn't worth it, they're wondering why they'd pay the premium.

The A-class is apparently having it's lifecycle extended now.

Yeah, MB realised their backwards management. A class is staying.

Getting the lowest score doesn't mean they can make it better. And I couldn't care less about scores giving by Carwow. They can do airfield sprints, and for the rest they should just STFU.

This design language is so exhausted.

Not sure why BMW has not waited a couple more years to give this car the NK treatment.
