LS Spy Shots: 2014 Lexus LS

I do t want to be too judgmental before July 30 but if. This is what Lexus is what Lexus is bringing to the table for the LS I'm not too impressed after 7 years and a facelift I was expecting something New not just an extensive refresh and the same 7 year old engines they better stun me with the interior

Toyota's crisis over the last few years must have soaked up their development money, because they have never just slapped a grille on a 7 year old Lexus before and called it a day. Even the non-selling GS got a new body and interior. The LS needs all of that and more if it has a prayer of keeping up with the new S-Class. I just can't believe they would cheap out like this. There better be at least 420hp under the hood and a new interior to go with this new grille, otherwise forget it.

This is clearly the same old 2007 LS design with a new grille. I hope they gave it a new interior and engine.

Well I hope Lexus has the common sense to stay away from the term "all-new" then. Even with an updated interior it will still be perceived as a face-lift. Then again Bentley did the same thing with the GT. Maybe they want to give it a RR/Bentley life cycle.

Is this some kind of joke? I mean, really, is that it? They made a fuss about a new car that looks exactly like the outgoing model, except now it's got one of the worst grilles in the world? That's pathetic.

Well technically it is a facelift so it isn't a new generation, it is the marketing people who is trying to fool the non-car people into believing this is a brand new model.

What gets me is that the Lexus already had a facelift in 2010 with redesigned headlights, taillights and other minor features and then the fact they replaced the mice elegant grille with this abomination, but I shouldn't speak so soon before monday

Why is everybody so sure its a facelift? The new GS was all-new. So why would they leave their top-model ( developed at a later date ) with an old platform when they could easily share it with the new GS? It may look similar to the old model, but then the latest Audi A8s design is but a contemporised version of every single Audi saloon ever made. Whichever it is though, I have little doubt it will be monstered by 7, XJ and the new S:D

It's definitely not an all new design. It's one thing to do VERY small evolutionary changes to a new model (and there's nothing wrong with that, in fact, when done right and tactfully, it builds the greatest and more confidently iconic designs in the world), but another when it's the EXACT same sheetmetal/platform with easy-peasy new bumpers/lights/effects/wheels. If this is a WHOLE NEW bodystyle, then they literally simply redesigned the previous one to the "T", which would be odd.
