LS Spy Shots: 2014 Lexus LS

I would wait to see what they do. I can't believe they're going to just carry over the engines as is. That would be very lazy for Lexus considering the current LS460 is behind the class in power now. Mercedes 429hp, BMW going to 445hp, Audi will likely launch a A8 with a detuned version of the 4L V8 with somewhere around 400hp. Jaguar's V8s are are 385hp and 470hp so Lexus needs to get with the program. Then again they did carry over the engine with the GS with little or no change in hp.

Most importantly, the LS460 will have a naturally aspirated 4.6 V8. That alone makes this car in a class of its own. Still I don't know what the F-sport is going to entail on the LS460 (most likely only on short wheelbase).

Well, before this V8, their previous V8 did soldier on for 3 generations if that's anything to go by. Mercedes and BMW can afford to spread the cost of their V8 development amongst many cars. Lexus now only has the LS for their passenger car V8. And it used to be they would be able to rely on the SC and GS to spread the cost, but they no longer have that cushion. I see some areas of improvement, i.e. new transmission, etc., and maybe something a little bit special in for their F-sport.

I'm starting to think that this "new" LS is indeed going to be just a good facelift and not a whole new car. If so the S-Class won't have anything to worry about, again.

M

No, the LS is a new car. But in any case the new S Class won't have to worry - of course if it doesn't look ugly as the 1 Series F20.

I really hope Lexus don't screw up the sexy soft design of the current LS with this new edgy sharp spindle grille design i just don't see it fitting the LS as nicely as it does the other models

That is the LX, not the LS. The LX uses very similar lights from the current LS.

No...the LX doesn't spindle down like that.
Really? That's the LX J200 II, not the LS. Looking at the early silhouette image I posted and a more detailed image of what Keyonte posted, that shows the design of the LS.

Then the new LS will look very similar to the LX because there is no way a LX is that low. And why would Lexus have to tease it. The spindle grille goes to a different kind of chrome/metal in the teasers anyways.

We have to wait. We can't know yet whether it is facelift, extended facelift or all new.
