At first sight this might look like a mule for the next generation Renault Scenic, but if you look closely you notice that this is not the case.
With the Nissan Juke based Renault Captur already developed and presented, the engineers at Renault have started to work at their next SUV project. When this chopped up Scenic is ready for debut it will be a new Renault midsize SUV based on the next generation Nissan Qashqai and it will have nothing in common with the Scenic body this mule is made of.
So what makes us so sure it’s a mule for a new SUV and not for a Scenic? First of all it’s riding on bigger wheels and its riding higher than a normal Scenic. It has some extra weight added both at the roof and front fenders to simulate a higher weight distribution. And since we already had photos of the “Cross” version of the Scenic we can rule out that.
We might expect a concept for Frankfurt later this year with the production car revealed at the Paris Car Show in 2014.
