X6 Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC (part 2).

The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof).
Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

I have a theory .... Maybe BMW came to the conclusion that the X6 with the 'new revolutionary ' design elements would make the current X5 look old and maybe hurt X5 sales...So they probably introduce the new design with the F01/F02 and introduce those elements simultanously to X5 and X6 with the first facelift...just an idea...what do you think..?

That make sense :usa7uh: I hope you'r right because we expected something revolutionary not X5-coupe
Don’t get me wrong I do like this X6 but I just expected more

Now something else, they said (some insiders) that the X6 will be a kind of ultimate driving machine my question is how is’t possible when the X6 is even bigger than the X5 :eusa_thin

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

5cm for the actual body and 5 for the suspension. If the X5 had(or does it have) air suspension like the Range Rover or Cayenne one could simply lower it 5cm using a button in the cockpit.

As far as I know there is no air suspension yet on the new X5. Only the old model X5 (and that is the only BMW with air suspension ever)
But still, 5 cm alone is a lot and compared to a regular X5 it would look more agressive etc. 5 cm off the bodywork imo is a lot too.

Its not reallly bigger...it has a wider track (57mm) which should contribute to a sportier ride and look, the lower suspension and roofline should have the same effect ..also it will probably get the new engines and the new DPC system...so this is all going in the 'ultimate driving machine' direction...Although I think sooner or later these components will also trickle down to the X5 ... For a final judgement I guess we have to wait until we see it irl

Happens to me all the time with BMW btw.... I liked the E91 from the pictures for example..nice car...but pictures somehow don't do justice to this car....my neighbor has a black 330i coupe , and it simply looks stunning irl (even in the standard / non M version)
So I am almost sure this will also be true for the X6....

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

I'm cautiously optimistic, it's going to be good. There's something menacing about a low-strung, wide and long SUV that isn't really an SUV.

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

I was playing around trying to look under the tape of the back, as you can see the edges of the underlying at least in some places. Sorry for the low quality,as I do not have any sophisticated software, but it gives you a pretty good idea, how the backend may look.

Btw a lot of details are different than the last chops we have seen (including Huckfelds) Some lines are similar of those of the Z4 coupe bootlid (the top line that disappears into the C-Pillar).
Also, the C-pillar seems to be smaller irl as in the spy pics (still lots of came on it. The roof spoiler is way too thin, which means the glass is lower (more recessed) than it appears in the spy pics.

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

This thing will be a huge attention grabber ont he roads, and it could be good for BMW, at the moment BMW don't have a kind of car that MB, Audi don't have, and this will be the one. However i don't know why they chose SUV shape instead of something else that makes it more of an ultimate driving machine.

The new X5 imo, looks good but I think the shape of it, especially when looked from the side, is not that new or fresh, X6 does not have this problem.

Re: Spy pics: BMW X6 SAC - part 2 (barely disguised FEP prototypes)

Looks like the pontiac aztec right now. Hope the real thing wouldn't.

The only other occurrence is the shape of the rear window fitting into the rear tailgate is the same shape of the Z4M Coupe which will enhance the sport and performance design of this individual SAC. The design will share a similar shoulder line to the new X5 and the front bonnet will be placed in a similar position. The X6 will cater for four passengers and will have four doors a smaller window with the trademark BMW kink will insert behind the rear doors.

The front of the X6 is not similar to the X5. With triangular headlights as similar to the 5er (E60) - they sit in the front corners which blend in to form the front wheel arches aside the widened twin shell kidney grille which will make its debut in the next 7er - The twin kidneys now appear to be upturned but borders into a more natural twin shape inside the shell.
The shell also forms substance and interplay with the curves on the top of the bonnet and meet in the surround of the shell. where the chromed bars ahead of the radiator will be placed.
The rear of the car gets slim-line rear lights that open up broader when wrapped around the corner of the car which leads direct from the rear bumper area forming the rear wheel arches.
An optional targa roof will become available with individual slats folding towards the rear of the car , as will a full panoramic roof .

There will be no X5-M as BMW reckon X6-M with its unique design and attitude and direction of a performance coupe will sufficiently fill that gap no matter what the cmpetition come up with - BMW are keeping an open mind before venturing down that road not to overplay the M-brand - X6 will at first arrive with NGV8 and twin-turbo V8. Diesel will include V8 and eventually a base I6 diesel. A V10 diesel in development for the 7er may eventually end up in the X6.

An M variation on the M5 and M6's V10 with substantially more output will top out the range.

Emphasizing on the four seasons for X6

One of the exciting concepts of the design phase of the X6 is BMW want to prove that the X6 is capable for all "four seasons": How weather and season can enhance the design of the X6. So we know its going to be a new type of vehicle - A new type of premium segment with the SAC "Sport Activity Coupe". In the concept of brainstorming something that has already been approved for production is the effect that the car will have on color choices both in exterior and interior. Although the exact color choice still has to be fettled this is how things are shaping up so far.

For instance "Desert" will feature strong Gold, Orange and Bronze colors with interior of sand beige or golden orange. With light or dark wood or bronze metallic strips.
"Ice" will enhance exterior color with cool whites and light blue hues with the interior merging with transparent and white trim elements (think ipod) and white and cool blue leather.
"Water" will enhance color of deep sea coral Blues and Greens with interiors to match.
"Autumn" will carry deep red to emphasis the interior and exterior.
And then the "Cloud" which will maintain the Blacks,Greys and Silvers.

Overall controls such as switches, stalks , control knobs etc are being evaluated against modern technology the soft touch keypads of laptops and high end mobile phones, ipods , plasma TV's in order to emulate a high quality "talking point" interior which will begin first with the F01 7er.
So Scott, Eni: the above doesn't count anymore ?!? God I was excited

Nice find, Mr. Bartek. Thanks a lot! :usa7uh:

There's nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with the shape, even with camo on it.:eusa_clap

:t-cheers:

Quite different looking imo, which is a fresh thing to see. Now I want to see how else they are different from each other

You can already see that it has a wider stance than the X5. I think it's going to have one of the most beautiful rear-ends in the industry.

Now I'm very excited about the car. People are going to be as crazy over it as they where for the MB CLS when it was launched.

It is going to look sick an Alpine white :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool

Absolutely amazing. Looks totally different from the X5 next to it. :icondrool

This car will be "DA BOMB!" :D

Although a more individual / special / radical fascia would be even greater.

Now imagine X6 M-Sport version. :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool

The front of the new AMS....I can't find any bigger pics and haven't bought the mag yet...

Scans please someone :D :D
