Not going to have nearly 540Nm of torque. That's nearly the same as the M3/M4.

It's going to be 370hp and 465Nm (boost to 500Nm briefly).

Just look at where it sits in the range. It doesn't take a lot of working out it's going to sit squarely in between the M235i and the M4, which have 326hp/450Nm and 431hp/550Nm respectively.

That's not coming out today, it's coming out tomorrow, wednesday 14th Oct. The date is on the cover.

So that looks like an official photo and a leak of the cover a day early.

Wowowowowowowow

And lighter than M235i is just icing on the cake! Sporty BMW is back.

I very much doubt it will be lighter than the M235i. Certainly when you consider they're not even using any CFRP. The M4 GTS uses extensive CFRP over the standard M4, and yet only managed 27kg.

I suspect what has happened is that Auto Express are mistaking the DIN and EU weights. So 1,495kg is the DIN weight, which will make it 1,570kg EU1. That would make it 40kg HEAVIER than the M235i

I'm happy to be proved wrong though. Whilst 1,570kg does seem heavier than I expected, 1,495kg seems unbelievably light. That's 35kg lighter without any use of exotic lightweight materials.

Yea it's very possible they are mixing numbers....but while not exotic, they are apparantly using alu instead of steel for certain parts...

We'll see where this ends up, maybe we'll have to call in our expect @sanpt7777

BTW, did you guys notice the round fuel cap? Very cool detail.

I made a mistake. If they ARE mixing numbers up, it would actually be 1,570kg EU1!! That cannot be true. So let's hope it's 1,495kg.

1,570kg is the exact same weight as the E46 M3. And I suspect they're very similar in size.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
