ES Spied: 2007 Lexus ES

BY FAR the worst of all the new Lexus. Bloated, souped up camry. Just as well the company realises it does the brand image no favours in markets outside the US such as Europe and Australia. Goodbye and good riddence to the ES from these markets.

Yeah, IMO it'll be a US-specific model, such that it might even be built and designed in the US (like the Acura TL or whatever). It looks enough like the old ES that I'd be willing to hazard a guess that it's just a rebodied version of it. The ES used to be the entry-level Lexus in Australia, but it then moved upmarket (despite its largely Camry-based underpinnings) and the previous IS moved in under it. Now the new IS has come along and risen in price slightly, and the ES has been excised from the Australian Lexus lineup.

Not as bad as some, but certainly not good looking. The front is a bit shovel-like and the grille too low. The back is a bit too high and dumpy.

I'm not sad to see this one stay overseas.
