Not sure what’s the reason here. Headlights do not even look slimmer…
Sometimes they were round, other times square, retractable, split, all cars have always had lights on their front ends and it is always how they go with the rest of the design and how the lights themselves are designed and their integration into the philosophy of the car.
It is like saying that since they all have doors they will look similar, changes and trends make evolution, it is the designers' job to take advantage and differentiate themselves within that framework
