5 Series [Rumors] Any word on details of 2020 5er LCI?

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

Meaning press pics are inminent?

I doubt it would appear in public at the Brussels motor show before the press release has been published, and seeing as the motor show opens tomorrow morning at 0800, I strongly suspect the press release embargo will be lifted at midnight tonight. Failing that, at the very least we will see the press release published during the day tomorrow.

Should add closed room for the LCI @ Brussels.

Then why even mention it? What relevance does anything that's in a closed room have to the wider public? They can't see it. Or is it just a way for you to look important because you know something other people don't? You do it all the time, telling the forum what is in closed rooms at motor shows. Who gives a toss?!

Closed room viewings are accessible to the general public at the Brussels Motor Show, you just need to know as they are not promoted. BMW has a closed room in Brussels almost every year and I’ve been to a few myself.

People like to know about Closed Rooms.
After the Geneva M850i and M8 Convertible before actual launch people like to know what's going on so they can ask their dealer to put them on the list.

The conversation went like this.

"Ah are you going to Brussels?"
"The new 5 Life Cycle Improvment will be showing"
"Ah debut then?" -"I look forward to seeing the new car in the press release"
Later....
"Sorry If you are going to Brussels then you will need to fill in NDA for the closed room"
"Official debut later this month. For Geneva?"
"Sorry I won't be going to Brussels"
"if you are in Munich this week drop by and you can see the new car as well as the M5"
"it's the M5 that interests me most. Do you have an image of this? Wow! They have completely reprofiled the front of the car, to blend in more with that sharper front facia. It looks far more sharper and less understated than what has gone before."
I think it looks far better don't you?
"Yes but it needs a Touring."
"I have now a dilema"
"Yes,thinking about the X5M but Individual choices which I like are not available until August.
Which means delivery would be closer to the end of 2020.
The standard colours are too popular for me."
"A dilemma indeed."

I know what people DON'T like, and that's being told "x will be appearing at y", only to be told later "ah, but in a closed room". It's irrelevant in the context of this forum.

I've read this part three times now, and I have no idea what the point is.

It looks like the 5series LCI and E-class FL will be released almost at the same time. This is going to be very interesting.

The M850i has gone in to the dealership to have various issues addressed (more on that at another time!) and I have a BMW M5 Competition as a loan car. As brilliant as it is to drive, my god does it look dated externally. And the interior looks and feels like it's from a bygone era. So unless they have a huge interior upgrade, the E-class interior looks far fresher, but probably not as well built.

As you know LCI will bring a iDrive and a new digital instrument cluster to the cabin. The biggest update are complimentary Carplay and Android Auto.

Although the overall design of the cabin won't change, the 5Series will retain its user friendly HVAC controls which include rotary knobs for temperature and a physical sync button for the front dual zone climate control.

Wait what? That interior is in every other Mercedes on sal...

Yes I do. The 5 is stylistically out of touch. They've put me in an X6 now and it just drives home the case. The X6 interior is a class act and beautifully executed internally.

My point is not about your feelings about the 5 series interior but rather that your argument is contradictory.

Saying the E interior you find in almost every Mercedes Benz on sale today is still fresh and over an interior that only appeared in 3 models is contradictory.

If I'm not mistaken the 5 interior was first seen on the 7 then 5 and then X3.

So if you find the 5 interior outdated the E interior is Fing ancient.
