Agree with you, and in my opinion a very important part in the overall discussion is technology - the S class indeed sets the benchmark for technological advances in the industry in many ways, they are pushing very hard now to keep up with Tesla on autonomy and electrification while still improving the luxury experience, while Rolls still tries to impress you with some LEDs on the roofline and special color stitching on the headrest...
We are here today as a civilization because of technological advancements, not because of purple and gold hand stitching on expensive leather... this is not a subject to be abandoned under any circumstances. For €250k+ I would expect my car to pick me up and drive home in the next two to three years, and we can see that that’s what THIS generation of S class will be able to do, while on the Ghost:
