Both these cars have large belly sections
The taper of the C-Pillar and smaller 3/4 window on the Maybach supports the top and mid section better than the Rolls imo.
The chrome strip on the C-Pillar nearly strikes the center hub of the rear wheels on the Merc. The overall design looks more elegant, modern and sophisticated.

Looking at the ghost from this angle it seems they have succeeded in achieving the ugliest rear of a RR ever. I don’t know what’s this unbalanced approach they have - on the Cullinan fugly front, nice, and modern rear, on the Ghost - well, acceptable front, but fugly rear, that over use of chrome on both the taillights and the c pillar is so Chinese....

I sort of agree. The raked forward angle of the rear lights feels more Bentley than RR.

Despite being dressed nicely, the Maybach S still looks like a dressed up car to me. The Rolls Royce, despite it's deviation from classical RWD proportions, has a lot of classical design elements that puts it in another category design wise. That style of design has only been challenged by Bentley, and they together as a top tier class of cars, have defined what that tier class looks like. The Maybach S, as with the original Maybach, still has not reached the level of ultra luxury design that RR and Bentley have attained imo.

Huh. That must mean with its massive chrome grille, larger thick chrome lower intake grille, long bonnet strake chrome trim, chromium B-pillars to complement its own, thick, chrome C-pillar, the chrome sill trim, chrome lower bumper trim and chrome bumper end trims, and those lovely chromed plastic model designation badges just above the full width wraparound chrome trim on the boot, make the Maybach more Chinese than the Emporer of the Han Dynasty delivering 8 portions of crispy duck to Xi Jinping in a Wuling Hong Guang, whilst whistling 'March of the volunteers'.

Well, the problem as I mentioned it in another thread is not itself with the chrome, but how it’s used - the RR grill has more chrome than the Maybach one or any other car, but it still looks good, I simply say they overdid it on the C pillar and the taillights, which would look better with less. On the Maybach you see chrome in more places indeed, but it’s used smartly, as part of the design. I’m not a fan of the huge chrome rims, so on that I agree, but otherwise it looks more balanced than the Ghost.

Personally I think the Ghost looks the best on this picture, at least from the rear, and this color hides that overused chrome a bit, but I still believe the Maybach is executed better

I agree with everyone about the status that RR represents, but thats another reason why it’s a let down from them this time, it’s like - well, they gonna buy it anyways, let’s just throw something together. That lower bumper is just wtf, who got the idea to make it look like that? What are those fugly exhausts, it looks like 2003. They made a great concept with the EXP 100, but you don’t see that car being realized anywhere beside the phantom 8. This gen of MM is definitely better than the previous one in every way, I can’t tell the same about the Ghost.

Interestingly, too me looks like that is the worst possible spec for Ghost and the best spec for S Maybach.

Not the biggest fan of RR at all, but I find the Maybach treatment to every MB to be utterly disgusting.
