Vs 2014 Merc S-Class vs. Bentley Flying Spur vs. Rolls Royce Ghost

If I could afford them all, I would still choose the Benz, and instead of buying a FS and Ghost, I would get a 2-door Phantom haha

I was very impressed by a Rolls Royce Ghost I saw on the road the other day. It's a great looking car, but I would take a S-class (especially a S600 or S65) over the other two.

The Bentley just seems awkward after the facelift/remodel (whatever they want to call it). Plus the rear seems to upset my soul. As far as the Ghost, I rather get the Phantom.

For sheer opulence and the unique unmistakable look/design coupled with the beauty of a Roller, I'd have the Ghost.
Regarding the Flying Spur, I am 100% with you HoH, it's awkward and does not look as special as the W222, honestly. The Mulsanne, now that's a total different story, I'd take it over any RR or Benz:love:

I think the Rolls Royce Ghost has a slight edge on the front end, simply because it`s better resolved. (not more upscale)

I still have not warmed up to the front end of this new S. The shut lines over the eyebrows is really tacky and those thick (almost swollen) eyelids just ruin the look from a distance for me. This could have been a very handsome car if the details were looked at more carefully. The design elements from head on are simply premature and not done very well... The Rolls is not that impressive either. It`s rather gaudy but it manages to pin down it`s details a little better from head on.

So in other words, nothing beyond the name then. You aren't saying anything of substance here.

An Aventador will obliterate an M6 on the road, so that is a poor example. The V12 S-Class models have nothing to fear from Bentley or Rolls, especially the previous and upcoming S65 AMG. Totally different story from an M6 to an Aventador.

rofl an nissan gt-r would annihilate that aventador 2 times but does it means its better car? does it mean you would change an aventador for a nissan gt-? never.

have u ever seen a rolls royce phantom on the street? how BIG it really is? how impressive it stands?
well the S has no chance for now, even the wheels are 4 categories smaller...

from the technical side the S owns every car on the market - thats all.
i have seen the S on the street for a long time, overtook it, drove around let me overtake, its nice, its cool, it has really
really nice features, but is it a GODLIKE car? no!
trust me see the car in real and you ll be dissapointed!

I've sat in the Phantom twice now so I've more than just seen it on the street. Wasn't nearly as impressive as the Mulsanne. Once you get past the size it really isn't all that IMO.

Not sure what your point is.

While I do agree to some extend, I feel obliged to say there is a distinct quality difference between Phantom mrk I and mrk II.
From personal experience.

And no matter how great the interior of the new S is or might be, compared to a Phantom it's just like any other big saloon. Diminishing returns play a big part, imo. Phantom's proportions and seating position make the difference here, probably not the quality (which might even be equal for all I know). Phantom will only have more of what S class already has.

(I am just extending the subject here btw, not accusing anyone of anything)

I actually agree here. Just wasn't as impressed with the car as I was the Mully. This was the newest Phantom I examined back in May at NYC.

By the looks?

Interior:
1. S-Class - steering wheel looks awkward.. but other than that it's great it its own way.
2. Flying Spur - I have never liked this new Continental/FS dashboard.
3. Ghost - it's just... meh... and it looks kind of cheap (just looks like it is).

Exterior:
1. Flying Spur - for me it looks great from every angle. Besides rear view reminds me a bit the first Audi A8 (D2).
2. S-Class - nothing special.. in fact i like the outgoing model better, but it's still nice.
3. Again... meh... and too blocky ;)

I can understand that, but I will wait until I see it in person before I make a final judgement. For now, I'm still greatly impressed by the W221 Design.

Comparing the S-Class to the Rolls Phantom??o_O

-Whats the point when MB does not offer anything with that price tag yet. It`s the Rolls Royce Ghost the S-Class is after.

Can't wait to see a comparison of the S600/s65 against the Ghost and Spur.

Didn't runaway in the 'apples with apples' comparison test by Autobild. So who knows what to expect in the 'apple with the exotic Dragon fruits' comparo...

Nice veiled swipe at the S-class Naas...

Ahh yes that one comparison which has defined the S-class's entire legacy for the next 7 years. Shame on MB. You may as well give up now as BMW is obviously going to wipe the floor with the 7 series in 2-3 years and the product you offer which as been the class benchmark for decades is on the cusp of irrelevancy. Autobild has declared this (not really thats just the interpretation of some) so accept it and move on.

Because of this singular test the S-class is supposedly a big disappointment/failure.
