In the US market, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet will be available in three exclusive configurations:

• Zircon Red exterior paint with a Porcelain / Black interior, Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines trim and a black soft top
• Cote d’Azur Blue exterior paint with a Porcelain / Saddle Brown interior, Magnolia Nut Brown trim and a beige soft top
• designo Diamond White exterior paint with a Porcelain / Yacht Blue interior, Magnolia Nut Brown Flowing Lines trim and a dark blue soft top

It should have had a totally different grille and better wheels. Still though I have no doubt it will sell out quickly. I want to see the blue one also, it's probably the best looking for the 3. Lets hope that the next generation Maybachs are being created now and they're dramatically different from their Benz donor models.

I for one am glad that "dealer inventory friendly" Obsidian Black/Black combination isn't an option .

• In addition to a palette of 14 standard designo Manufaktur exterior paints developed using a special process, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will feature eight additional exclusive paint colors. These paint finishes are produced as part of a "Manufaktur" process (hand-finishing section) at the plant in Sindelfingen. After the first clear coat is applied, the surface of all vehicles is roughened (intermediate sanding) and then a second and final clear coat is painted on. This adds extra depth to the paint finish. The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet is expected to arrive next spring

LOS ANGELES -- With 379 dealerships and only 75 units of the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet, how will Mercedes pass the vehicles around? By approaching its best customers first.

Working with its dealers, Mercedes-Benz USA has started to talk to its VIP buyers about the V-12-powered Maybach convertible introduced last week at the auto show here, CEO Dietmar Exler said. The U.S. is getting 75 of 300 planned globally.

"We give our best customers, you might want to call it the right of first refusal," Exler said.

And the superluxury convertible won't last long -- a model year or less, he said.

Customers who attended a debut party for the convertible here last week are already calling dibs on the car, which is expected to cost more than $300,000 and arrive next spring.

"We'll be running out," Exler said. "We're pretty happy with the way it's going."

Winter is coming in the northern hemisphere, so why not dress the Mercedes-Maybach S650 in a more suitable frock?
Billed as the company's most luxurious and exclusive convertible when debuted at the Los Angeles show this month, the S650 might is the pinnacle of the Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand.

Sporting a blue shade that doesn’t really works as well as the real deal that was only shown in an exclusive to the S650 red finish, this rendering posted by X-Tomi obviously builds on top of the S-Class Coupe. It has an identical roofline, while maintaining the exclusive Maybach features, including those gorgeous retro-like wheels.

It's still worthy of the S650 designation, just like the open-top model that uses a 630 PS (621 HP) 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine, which allows it to cover the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in just 4.1 seconds. Though, if Mercedes-Maybach decides to give it a go (nothing confirmed so far), chances are it will be a tad quicker, probably at 4 seconds dead, or just below.

Mercedes has a "problem" all automakers would want to encounter. Demand for the ultra-posh S650 Cabriolet is very high in United States and that’s why the company has decided to select which customers are going to have the privilege of buying the model limited locally to 75 units. It will do that by working together with its 379-dealership network to contact the “best customers” and give them "the right of first refusal," according to Mercedes-Benz USA’s CEO Dietmar Exler.

Despite the fact that it’s going to cost more than $300,000, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet is already a hit in U.S. where people are lining up to buy it. Exler says the allocated production for what he described as being the "superluxury convertible" will probably last for less than a model year. As a matter of fact, last week at the debut party many people lined up to get the luxurious drop-top model scheduled to arrive stateside next spring. It comes as no surprise that Exler told Automotive News "we’re pretty happy with the way it’s going."

The U.S.-spec model is going to be available in three different liveries: Zircon Red paint with Porcelain / Black interior, Cote d’Azur Blue paint with Porcelain / Saddle Brown interior and designo Diamond White paint with Porcelain / Yacht Blue interior. The car is essentially a more luxurious take on the $247,900 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet and will come bundled with a luggage set and a certificate signed by Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche.

Besides the fancy interior cabin, the S650 Cabriolet will also be differentiated by its 20-inch forged alloy wheels and additional chrome body accents. In addition, all cars will receive entrance lights showing the Maybach logo. The special edition will carry over the S65 Cabriolet’s biturbo 6.0-liter V12 with 621 horsepower (463 kilowatts) and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) of torque. It’s going to be enough AMG power for a 0-60 mph (0-96 kph) sprint in four seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 kph).

This whole 1 of 300 is just awkward..I mean why just 300 units of a brand new car.. it just makes the car look like a peksy limited edition model, which it essentially is, MB just needs to have some faith and should have introduced the car as a proper production series..

I think they have stated previously that depending on the success of the current business model, they might once again commit to a stand alone Maybach series in the future.

Yes, but they could have at least bought the S650 Cabrio as a series production..I do admit though, a bespoke car is a distant possibility..

I think MB realized there isn't all that much they can do to the cabrio besides minor exterior restyling. Unlike the S sedan they can't extend the wheelbase and add more comfort features to it.
