This has to be the biggest rip off in recent history. What have they done that is so different to warrant a $300K price tag? It's 50K more for somebody ugly bits that have been added. It's astonishing how they found 300 suckers to lap this car up but they were not able to move the Maybach 57/62. I honestly feel that if they bring out another proper Maybach today which looks substantially different and price it in the Mulsanne range; there will be buyers. The market has matured since the original Mybach was introduced...

At the MB Kundencenter Sindelfingen. :)

I actually like it more now. I don't know which looks better red or white.

German-speakers will understand this colloquialism from my native Bavarian homeland: "Vui z'vui !".

Simply too much ostentation.

^ Rumored to be sold out already, as only a limited number of 300 were offered. It will be exhibited at the MB Kundencenter Sindelfingen until March 30. There's also a regular Mercedes-Maybach S 600, which may become available as S 650 with the facelift, and not be a limited production run? :)

I very much agree. It makes a slightly kitsch impression ....Sacco must be looking on in despair, it represents the exact opposite of his work for Mercedes.

However, It's certainly not ugly of course.

Value is perception.
Absolutely true .....besides, there are many things that cost a lot more than this car. For the people this vehicle is aimed at, that price will not be a concern.

Yet in the same breath he must be looking at the new E-coupe with glee. :p

I believe, while it may not be keeping to the more refined taste of some, they have styled the this vehicle to perfectly satisfy its intended market. These guys are out to be noticed. Understatement is not the name of the game.

Perhaps ;)

Yes, there is a lucrative market for luxury products that appeal to the impulsive buying habits of some wealthy individuals ...especially if they are led to believe that only 'important' Mercedes customers will be given the opportunity to buy one.

Dieter did call me. I said, "No thank you. Gordon's put a bit too much chrome on the front bumper."

It seems like most of these topless Maybach produced have went to Brabus?

^ MB Passion asked Daimler what is going on. :)

Confirmation of Brabus as Cooperation Partner
When inquiring at Daimler AG, to what extent Brabus is involved in the production of the exclusive Mercedes-Maybach Cabriolet, they refused to explain exact details. However, it was at least confirmed that Brabus is a cooperation partner: "Our cooperation partner Brabus is involved in the construction of the S 650 Cabriolet. Brabus has great experience in the production of high-quality small series. Brabus upgrades the vehicle according to our specifications," a Daimler press officer told MB Passion.

Has someone got any information regarding the number of S650 Cabriolets sold, maybe @Wolfgang could help?

MB confirmed the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabrios were sold out within days. :)

Mercedes-Maybach moves all 99
pricey limited-edition G 650 Landaulets
Jens Meiners -- Automotive News
Maybach flopped as a stand-alone brand, but Mercedes-Maybach models are doing well as limited-edition derivatives. Company insiders say all 300 Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolets were sold within days after the model’s November debut. It took a few weeks to sell all 99 Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulets, which went on sale in February for around $850,000, depending on equipment. Mercedes originally planned to build far fewer Landaulets, but Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche insisted on 99.

Wow, the S650 Cabrios all sold out..that must mean some lucky owners and a super healthy profit for MB combined with the G wagons..

Just looking at it w/o the badges, I wouldn't know it's a Maybach. That bit of negativity aside, I'd like to see more pics of this particular car so I can get a better sense of that blue hue. I have a feeling that this Cote D'Azure (?) Blue is going to be a favorite shade of blue for me. It seems to be similar to the stunning color that BMW chose for the 8er Concept.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
