I'm not sold.

It looks fine. I like the sharper front end, but now there is a longer overhang and a tall hood.

Side profile body lines are also okay, but downgrade from F10/G30 imo, with the beautiful crease/surfacing.

That front overhang is insane. Wayy too much mass on top of and in front of the front wheels.

Did my best to align both of these photos.

The angular front (seen in profile in that only photo), follows the pattern seen (also in the front profile of the XM), angular and protruding, the sheet metal of the doors and others follows the idea of clean lines, highlighting the body The photo doesn't say much more... but this started well

I think front does look better.

But I feared this new side profile styling with no creases would make the car look too plain. And it really does in that picture.

I see these recent designs as a “bridge” to the retro design debuting with the Next 3er.

I need to see more pics to see the overall design, front, rear and profile before making final judgement, but from this pic angle, the new 5 does appear to be a mixed design with a quite angular and sharp front end/bumper intakes but the profile is perhaps too clean without any pronounced character lines or shapes which could make the side of the car appear too plain.

Haha, you beat me to it..lol
Why would I not comment on it? One of the defining things about BMW sedans have been the short front overhang, and long wheelbase. And my comment is not just based on that one angle, we have seen many spyshots over the last couple of years.

This. It looks better than I was expecting, but my expectations weren’t very high to begin with. More pics please in varying specs are needed.

Correct, I can't think of a less graceful photo than that, with a stick crane from another car both in motion and that angle that highlights and widens only the front where the focus is.
It is almost safe to say that the front will more than comply, it is for me better than expected, it remains to see the complete car

First impressions:

Good:
  • Traditionally-sized grille
  • "Shark-nose" headlights - the angle of the headlights makes me think of the E28. I hope it's like that in real life and is not an optical illusion in this picture
  • No panel gap running across the hood/bonnet (looking at you Mercedes)
Bad:
  • Front bumper seems over designed and fussy. Too many angles and geometrical shapes. Perhaps this is the M Sport version? Hopefully also it's just the camera angle creating an optical illusion of the air intakes being all over the place.
