Getting a little worried for the B10 generation. I figured the coupe and convertible would be scrapped... But Sedan too?

We've seen the Avant testing since December of last year. Over a year now and there has been no sedan or sportback sightings... What gives? Did they cancel it late into development? Will the ICE B10 really be Avant only?

It's not uncommon for VAG cars to launch with few or no spy shots.

Correct, it will only be an Avant. Not unique to the A4, the somewhat related VW Passat and Skoda Superb are also going wagon-only, but only the A4/S4/RS4 Avant will cross the Atlantic.

A5 Sportback, which outsells the A4 sedan in the States (and Europe) by a healthy amount, will fill the sedan space, but it won’t switch to new platform quite yet.

This A4 has already been on the market for over 7 years now and long overdue for a replacement. Audi seems to be very slow to reveal anything. maybe this will be shown sometime later this year, but when? If only an Avant will be launched then this wont be good for sales in some markets that prefer salooons.

How are the Superb and the Passat related to the A4? They are on a completely different platform with a transverse engine.

I would've expected the B10 A5 Sportback to be revealed alongside the A5 Avant 🤔 if it was happening

I forgot that they had diverged platforms (they used to all share one).

Nonetheless, Volkswagen is not offering the next generation A4, Passat and Superb as sedans.

The 2024 A5 Sportback will carryover. It will switch to new platform approximately a year behind the A4 Avant. I personally wonder if maybe they just rename the A5 Sportback as the A4? But who knows. A few places have picked up on the fact that there is no B10 sedan, but a lot have not.

I hope you're right that there will be a B10 SB. But no, the A4 Avant will switch to A5 instead, since Audi is aiming for odd numbers = ICE and even numbers = EV

It looks like it's getting a grille surround similar to the RS3/Q8 E-Tron/E-Tron GT?

NGL, I'm a little less optimistic after seeing these new spyshots with less camo. It'll still look better than the B9.5 that's for sure though.

2024 Audi A4 Avant Adds Production Lights and Looks More Stylish Than Ever
It may not feel outdated yet, but the current generation Audi A4 will blow eight candles off its birthday cake this year. The B9 entered production back in 2015, welcoming its mid-cycle refresh three years later, and now the automaker is preparing the B10.

Set to still take on the premium compact establishment by gunning for the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the new-gen Audi A4 has been in the testing phase for well over a year now, and in the meantime, the camouflage has started to thin. The latest prototype snapped by our man with the cam, which was the Avant (estate), also wore its final production lighting units at both ends.

With its new grille, decorated by the four-ring logo and flanked by the new LED headlights with integrated DRLs, wide central air intake, and vertical side vents, the front bumper on the latest scooped tester looks rather sporty, and contributes to the stylish look of the car. It has flush-mounted door handles, slender taillights that appear to be connected by an illuminated strip, and a rear bumper with integrated diffuser and cutouts on each side for what seem to be the production tailpipes. Think evolutionary rather than revolutionary when it comes to the overall design of the new A4, which builds on the success of its predecessors with new everything.

Expect a large panoramic glass roof on higher specs, and fresh styling for the cabin, with a new dashboard panel that will host the floating infotainment screen, and freestanding digital instrument cluster. Look for slimmer air vents, new steering wheel, and center console hosting a gear shifter similar to that of the Q4. To no one’s surprise, the new-gen Audi A4 will feature the latest technology and safety gear, and the automaker will sprinkle it with ambient lighting, comfortable seats at the front, and new upholstery and trim, with leather obviously reserved for the more expensive models that will sit at the top of the range.

Speaking of high-end versions, the S4 and RS 4 will live on, although the latter will be reserved to the five-door body style obviously. Plug-in hybrid powertrains will be included too, next to a host of gasoline units. Chances are that Europe will get one or two diesel engines, and it is likely that this new generation A4 will be the last of its kind to feature low-revving mills. Mind you, exact details surrounding the firepower are still unknown, and will probably remain so until Audi will officially lift the curtain for the car. Speaking of which, it has been reported that the new A4 is due in the coming months, maybe launching as a 2024 model in the United States.

Before wrapping it up, it has been rumored that Audi will drop the sedan version of the next A4, and that its role will be taken by the A5 Sportback. We reached out to the company who said that the alleged demise is "nonsense."

It’s turning into a Ford.
Yes, it is turning into the same as always, same evolutionary forms, very out of time, since this should already be radical to change its luck, something of what was revealed in the four new concepts presented.....but nothing, it can't stand another generation like this, they love to be third and far in sales

It looks quite good. The problem with the A4 is it competes against the 3er. And the W206 looks great as well this time.

If we add to the mix the new VW interior for Audis as well…

They sell the most cars here in Europe out of the big three, so something is going right.

I quite frankly find it hard to believe, as Audi is a mess these days, imho

Why and how are they a mess? They have a strong portfolio… their electric game is stronger than BMW and Benz (at least in terms of getting products to the market).. they are not forced to pair down their portfolio because too much cannibalism… I’m looking at you Benz and they are not producing vomit inducing designs as their halo cars like the XM… I think you need new socks and a pair of decent clothes

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
