Q7 From Renders to Official - MY20 Audi Q7 PI (Facelift)

Now where is the petrol SQ7?
US will get it but Europe unlikely.

Fleet CO2 targets will drop to 95grams in the EU next year. BMW fleet average is roughly 128grams. Car manufacturers have the headwinds of consumer wanting heavy SUVs/Crossovers while turning their back on diesel engines.

Wow this has to be one of the best FL of any car in a while. The changes to the front and rear lights and bumpers make the car look much more attractive and dynamic than before. The interior is now bang up to date and looks great with the updated dash that now fits in with other Audi models. The seats look fantastic with the quilted seat pattern. I think Audi have a winner here. The new GLE and X5 could find their biggest challenge here. This car has space advantages in passenger and boot with its extra length compared to its 2xrivals.

Honestly can't understand the positive feedback. I don't like this at all. Admittedly the rear and interior are an improvements, however the front is horrible. That bulky grill reminds me a lot of the atrocity Q2...

It's a good facelift, considering the some of the Q8's less attractive aspects, but the grille still turns me off. Me 'n Audi - we're just not vibing right now...

Wow, when you think it could not get any worse... Probably a quite favourable response on this board comes from excessive exposure to all those atrocities from BMW lately, hence very low starting point. :)

Well now that's a bit harsh. A BMW X7's hardly an atrocity - an abomination maybe - but atrocity seems a little excessive.

Some technical specs of the powertrains from AMS:

Audi will be offering three engines, each with a displacement of three liters and V6 attachment, for sale in autumn . The Q7 45 TDI gets the diesel with 231 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enough for zero in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229 km / h. Above that ranks the Q7 50 TDI: 286 hp, 600 Nm, 6.3 seconds and 241 km / h. If you prefer gasoline drives, gets the Audi Q7 55 TFSI. The single-turbo petrol engine delivers 340 hp and brings it like the weaker diesel to 500 Newton meters of torque. He accelerates the well over two-ton Q7 in 6.3 seconds to 100 and is at 250 km / h abgeregelt.

All engines are equipped with mild-hybrid belt starter generators, accordingly, the new Q7 has a 48V sub-board network. The system should drive in up to 0.7 liters of fuel savings, according to Audi. Rather cosmetic nature are the dimensional changes caused by new body parts. The length of the Audi Q7 facelift (2019), for example, will increase by eleven millimeters to 5.063 meters, with a width of 1,970 and a height of 1,741 millimeters.

If this is low starting point (BMW SUVs front design) you must have climbed Everest and look from there.

Ha. I agree with you on the front- still not what I'd call attractive. The rest of the styling changes are welcome though. It's impossible to make a bad choice when it comes to German automakers in this segment.

Digitalized. Cool. At least something to live up to the Audi's "Vorsprung durch Technik" main slogan.

It was obvious Q7 will get Q8 cockpit with the LCI. It does not make sense to make 2 different cockpits for same car of different shapes. It's like giving Wagon a different cockpit than to Sedan. Or to Cabrio different cockpit than to Coupe. So, a welcome upgrade.

Exterior is still too conservative & boring. Audi Design obsession with constant & radical light graphics design change (changing radically with almost every LCI and Mk) is rather lazy and failing attempt to liven up otherwise uninspiring vehicle styling and design, IMO.

Generally speaking there's only so much you can do with a facelift.. When you say that it's lazy, what were you expecting?
The changes below are pretty substantial for a facelift IMHO.

Sorry, but the current German with the most conservative and boring design is the 5er, followed closely by the E Class. IMO of course.

The new radars in the grille look really ugly, especially on the silver grilles and in the smaller S6/S7:

The radar ruins that car, both from a looks point of view and down to the actual operation of the system. You can only use the cruise control with full adaptive functionality, which makes cruising on quiet highways an absolute ball ache, as you have to adapt your driving to avoid triggering the (very sensitive) radar when coming up behind slow moving trucks.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
