Macan [Renders] 2021 Porsche Macan E

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.

Yeah it's crazy. The Ionic 5 N will likely end up being the better car. For half the price.
I’m optimistic that I’ll be delighted by it in person. It’s shocking soft and round - like a Beetle or Citroen. Unfortunately I can’t name other rival EV SUVs that are visually pleasing. This is be ”premium” alternative to the Model Y.

First interior shot, nice simple layout, typical Porsche and similar to the Panamera and Cayenne.

The current model interior as a comparison, which has alot more buttons.

It looks decidedly Chinese IMO. Could well be a new Nio or something. Interior already looks dated just like the new Panamera.

The Macan is a cash cow. Here in the UK even 7-9 year old examples with high mileage command silly high resale values for an SUV that is no less practical than a golf. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Deep pocketed boomers love the Macan and the simple and straight forward interior layout is pragmatic.

The interior is a clean evolution, and I can totally get behind it. The performance stats sound delightful, as do the reviews about the driving dynamics. The exterior, though, looks to be a total letdown - I will NEVER understand why the signature Porsche 'eyes' have been split into separate units, I'm not digging that underbite, and that backside looks bulbous. The interior might be decent and the drive wonderful, but I can't bring myself to live with an ugly car, and this one is shaping up to look that way.

As a current Macan owner who absolutely and thoroughly loves this model line, I'm still holding out for a positive surprise come full unveiling, but I'm 99 percent sure I'm taking this one off my prospective list. Shame - I hope the rest of the Porsche lineup doesn't head down this design direction.

Interesting @khabah. I just purchased a new Macan GTS (which I think is brilliant BTW) and i very much like the new look here. Seems more modern and cohesive regarding the exterior design to these eyes anyway. As an old fart, I don't know if I could get used to the lack of a petrol engine note. It sure does look enticing though.

I like the design, maybe a little boring. I was hoping they would take more design elements from Taycan. But its a pretty car.
The interior is a little boring, but I like that they dont put a huge dominant screen, instead it have a discret well integrated screen.

I don't understand why it took 5 years for Porsche to develop the Macan EV with very similar Taycan tech. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see what's new in the PPE platform aside of bigger battery. Put the 100kwh battery in the Taycan and you get the same range or maybe more at high speed.

They could have copied the Lucid drive train in those years but probably the PPE platform was ready two years ago and until now they worked on software.

Porsche really messed up the strategy and wasted precious time. Instead of optimizing the drive train efficiency they worked on software which they didn't do right and started again from scratch with Android platform which they should've from the development of J1.

Loved mine (had one of the first customer T's). Shame it was only 3 months ownership. Not sure about the Macan EV, then again I'm not sold on any EV just yet.

Looks more like a Coupe now.
It was hardly the most practical as a hatch, haven't checked specs but has the boot capacity increased even with the coupe rear, as they couldn't make it any less surely.

A few articles from journalists on prototype drives have remarked that the boot space has actually decreased with this new version. I believe there will be frunk to offset this, but it seems that actual trunk will be smaller this time around.

The new electric Macan really needs the roof rails option to complete the whole package aesthetically.

Still Enough room for a Versace Gym bag and a Hermes tote though, right?
