SL-Class [Renders] 2021 Mercedes-Benz SL

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class (marketed as Mercedes-AMG SL since 2022) is a grand touring sports car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. The designation "SL" derives from the German term "Sport-Leicht", which translates to "Sport Light" in English.

Wow, from all of the complaints about the circulated MB design bits, you’d think the EQ line would be more popular with its totally new design language.

I read where a true 4-seat Maybach convertible is being "studied" as a true replacement for the S Coupe/Cabrio.

M

I've seen an article or two on this subject myself. Supposedly based on the upcoming MB.EA BEV toolkit and positioned as a "halo Dream Car". Still quite far down the road however-maybe 5 some years. And as we know, much can happen in five years.

Oida are you the former 'Jimmy'?

A German, with excellent English, liking the Taycan and most of the AUDI's current and future range, hmmm, .......could be.

I'd suggest a "new and improved" train of perception. Guarantied focus on automobiles and all things automotive ONLY. Voluntarily oblivious to all things "sociopolitical" on these forums and immune to even the slightest hint of attempted baiting into this territory. Jaded, fatigued and hence FINALLY enlightened regarding to futility of senseless discourse, especially on a platform such as this. Mea culpa, admittedly much motivated by myself. Sticking to my guns with an itchy "Ignore Button" trigger finger.

Oh now it is clear.

Glad you're around @Oida.

Jimmy is from the Hamburg area.
According to his pic, Oida should be from Bavaria, especially Munich. Am I right?
Gell Monaco?

Positioned to be my personal favorite SL since the R129. I've never really cared for the folding hardtop R230 or (especially) R231. I can really appreciate the new car's smooth, uncluttered design. A big plus is that M-B designers decided to go easy on front fender gills. I never liked those.

Now, Mercedes-Benz have really hit the dead end of their design philosophy. It seems that Wagener can't come up with anything fresh and new, just the same pile of Sensual Purity rubbish. If this is really the best design in their yard as they say, I wonder which is the worst.

I will not take that photo, I will wait for a configuration / spec that is not vulgar, choose common red with black wheels for photo launch, what do they think? like the first leaked Z4, they look mehhh (in photos mostly) my eyes still hurt
