I know, but it’s only 25% on the amount over 500K nok, so still cheap. You don't keep up with the news? EV's over 500k received a 25% sales tax last year. It hasn't stopped sales.
As for insurance premiums our iX is cheaper to insure than the A6 it replaced.
Our iX is a big heavy AWD, ICE vehicles of the same size and weight are also hard on tires. I believe a lot of the issue is down to many EV drivers enjoying the rapid acceleration they have, which wears out tires. Slower EV's like Leafs or similar don't appear to have tire issues. It's just another beat up.
Spare parts availability has NOTHING to do with brexit.Presumably you mean via the North Sea ferry, which is not the route I take.
My route is via Belgium, France, and then via the Channel Tunnel, and then via our property in Surrey. I'll be doing that very journey in two days, leaving my house at 1900, arriving in Yorkshire at 0630 the next day. I will make the exact same journey in return two days later, which is a total journey of 1,002 miles (1,613km).
I think that would be considered a "long distance journey" by most people.
Spare parts and supplies are more difficult to source, as is labour. This adds to the cost of repairs.
That's not what I said. The discussion was about EV insurance being higher than ICEs. I then used examples of my own cars' premiums not increasing. You've pivoted now by talking about ALL insurance.
The discussion was about premiums for EVs increasing now, not from ten years ago.
You keep switching the discussion.
I do 400 miles from london to the nurburgring in my benz 5.5 hours total. Why is your journey taking so long?
“However, this average masks bigger increases for electric car owners, according to Confused.com. Its figures, derived from quotes, show that insurance premiums for electric vehicles are 72% – or £402 – higher than this time last year, at a typical £959. Meanwhile, for petrol and diesel car drivers, the increase is 29%, or £192, taking the figure to £848.
Analysts say claims costs are 25% higher for electric cars, and that they also take about 14% longer to repair than a diesel or petrol equivalent. The cost and availability of parts is a factor, explains Paul Baxter, the chief executive of the new brand the Green Insurer. There is also concern around the batteries, and that damage, especially to the underside, can be expensive to fix.“ sept 2023 the guardian
So EV’s cost more to insure. Fullstop.
11 hours to cover 500 miles.
LOL.

Buy a porsche EV they said, lower running costs they said.
Interesting flex.
Actually not even new ones. I had a 2007 BMW with a M steering wheel and it was ridicolous thick - perfect size for Andre the Giant, but not for normal people.
Yes, you are probably right! Happy to confirm I am not in their target group then….I think BMW did this in recognition that all of their BMW drivers are wankers...and preferred a thicker grip.
If we're flexing, please see my post above. 750km in 6 hours 48 minutes in a Merc diesel, including negotiating the Channel Tunnel.
Also, Land's End to John O'Groats in a 730d in February 2012 - 837 miles in 11 hours 3 minutes. The last two hours of that was an average of 40 mph in thick snow.

If only we had a sliver of your experience. It's truly awe inspiring
omg.....LOL
(does this mean BMW owners have a big wiener?)

VERY unflattering from the rear. I do not like this at all.
yes, removing the roof spoiler makes it a little odd from the rear. I guess they want it to have the same roof line as the 992. Anyway in this horrible orange colour it looks ugly from all angles. Its missing the roof spoiler of the ICE Macan. I think this would help a lot with the rear and profile.
Clearly it’s for a lower Cd#yes, removing the roof spoiler makes it a little odd from the rear. I guess they want it to have the same roof line as the 992. Anyway in this horrible orange colour it looks ugly from all angles.
Good point. A spoiler and fake exhaust would reduce the roundness of the rear. Its missing the roof spoiler of the ICE Macan. I think this would help a lot with the rear and profile.
