4 Series [Renders] 2020 BMW 4 series

The BMW 4 Series is a range of compact executive cars manufactured by BMW since 2013. The 4 Series was created when BMW spun off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the 3 Series into a separate series.

Clearly not an evolution of the current 4, this is how you stay ahead in design. Once so called ‘competitors’ have copied elements from your design, you up the game once more.
Are these rims 19” or 20”?

I am impressed that they managed to keep that front end relatively low despite its complexity of its initial design to meet safety legislations and production viability.

What's everyone's thoughts on the number plate positioning.

I think I'll wait for the real thing before commenting.

Why? They're only drawing the kidneys down into bumper. Aesthetically challenging, maybe, but th...

Yeah, I'd say it's more visual than anything else. The low grille makes the front look lower, but in reality I doubt it's any different from the current 4er.

Still I am very excited to see the final result. Proportions are absolutely flawless at least.

Looks fine to me. It'll be floating in front of the grille on the final car, and those little pieces of camo on the sides of the plate will disappear. I am just very glad they didn't put the plate on the side, Alfa style...

It appears that BMW designers are taking a "conventional" approach-which I find commendable. "Side Mountings" never really appealed to me-not even on classics such as Alfa Romeos' "Duetto" Spiders (although it worked relatively well with the very small Italian front registration plates of the day...and...there was really no other possibility other than an adhesive foil registration number pasted to the front tip of the bonnet).

Agree, would have probably preferred a bit lower like the concept while the test cars seem to have it a bit higher due to ACC sensor. Well it works with Audi so why not with BMW as well..

There's very little I like about what I see. Stuck record criticism of the front aside, I hate the upswept rear beltline and its intersection with the new Hof kink. FFS - since when on a BMW coupé and for why? Change's sake?
Yes, yes, old-skool traditional BMW fan is what I am, and I will cop flack for being a fuddy duddy but I don't care. There was genuine magic in what made BMWs as good to look at as they were to drive and many of these "don't-f#ck-with-a-good-thing" features are being diluted / re-interpreted / caricatured for no aesthetic benefit other than to make a statement. Stuff that.

It's like those nut-job women who undergo extensive facial augmentation in the pursuit of Lord knows what and end up looking hideous. In wanting to look striking, they've certainly succeeded, along with ending up ugly.

This will never be topped:

@martinbo
You put the finger on the wound ... regarding the hofmeister kink area ... it is the same direction BMW went with the 8 series... but opposed to the 8, unfortunately the 4 series has a predecessor, where it was executed much nicer.
And I agree - the side profile of the F82 is beautiful ... maybe I keep my M4 longer than expected

While i can agree to certain extent, i feel way worse about shit-kink seen on 8 series GC... That's the worst part of the car which screams this is not BMW.
