You obviously haven't traded in with uncle Tobi yet. Granted - it's not BMW levels of value drop but still, I know lots of owners who've been surprised by what they were offered for their and then what they saw it listed on the lot for. Porsches - especially 911s - do hold their value better but make no mistake they do depreciate, especially with mileage.I am not sure the reason why maybe it is also due to the negative second hand values and heavy depreciation of expensive BMW models and whereas those Porsche models are fetching very high prices after a few years of use.
It amazes me that Toby hasn't been fined or censured by the Competition Commission here. I wonder if the new legislation on motor service will be a problem for him. I nonetheless admire the man, I mean buying Kyalami was a master stroke. You obviously haven't traded in with uncle Tobi yet. I have no issue with his approach to the market and I also admire him for what he's done for the brand in SA. Business is business as multi-faceted as it is. Why are you guys so sensitive.I am simply perplexed at how much attention the new 8 Series has drawn. OK, I understand the need to express opinions, argue and debate, but in this case, it has gone too far. Like @klier said, this thread might only serve as ammunition for desperate Merc fanboys to throw all the rubbish and nonsense towards the BMW brand. In some...
Look, I'm all in favour of being a BMW fan on this site as the groundswell is certainly weighted toward Mercedes Benz. But, so what? The fact is that Mercedes Benz is the biggest and, probably, most widely admired premium automaker out there, not only in the minds of internet forum freaks like us but also the general public. Their top-end products are actually excellent, their AMG models continue to set fire to circuit laptimes in a way that BMW wishes they could do and they're also multiple Formula 1 champs. Right now, Mercedes Benz is the hottest car brand on the planet and that's just the way it is.You know, the fact that your average S-Coupe can't even compete with the G15 at dynamics, engine and chassis level does not make the 8 Series a bad car, as you portray it. If Merc has not done an "8 Series", it does not mean other brands can't, in this case BMW. I imagine a situation where Merc would have come up with something similar. You wouldn't have stopped praising it. So all your talk from this thread is simply bashing and rubbishing (for free) your No.1 enemy: BMW. I am left deeply disgusted by this attitude.
A beautiful, straight-up post from you - thank you. I left you an Easter egg in my latest response. Why are you guys so sensitive.
All we said is that bmw struggles over a certain price point.
So what?
Is the car crap? No it’s not!
The other cars they make are they crap? Certainly not!
Is the company not profitable ? Yes it is.
But you think that they are the jack of all trades, whatever they get into they rule. And this is not true.
They have thei...

...cause over on my side there are some proper assholes ( like me and Betty) we love it when you take things personally so we just up the heat.

Ile regret that I wrote this above cause some of you might understand it and stop being sensitive, which means I won’t have any fun.

...[/QUOTE]I can attest to the virtues and pleasures of being an asshole. Unfortunately, it appears to be hard-wired in the DNA of the homo sapien that one becomes "milder and more forgiving" with age (well...save people like Donald Trump, for example).
Maybe I should go out and ridicule some random person just for the hell of it. Or punch them in the face.
I don't know the rules by heart, but yeah sure go ahead.Since it seems fine for you to be proud, and take pleasure, in breaking literally the first rule of GCF... Can I start breaking rule number 10?
This post would make so much more sense if it came from a more neutral party. Don't you have the same attitude towards MB as the one hou critisize from the MB fanboys?
Always the same story...
You pose a difficult position for us, Matski, and everything has to be viewed in "moderation". LaArtist has always been antagonistic and controversial but never malicious or nasty. Given that this is the Internal Combustion section where a spirit of tolerance and leniency allows for discussion which is hoped to be more fun and direct. I don't feel that LaArtist is violating forum rules but this is my own degree of perception.Since it seems fine for you to be proud, and take pleasure, in breaking literally the first rule of GCF... Well that kept you busy for a while....Jesus christ, ok here we go.
