Smoking HOTT. Can't wait to see the S7 and RS7. The first gen is a good looking car for sure, but this one is sensuous.

Love the exterior, but not feeling the interior by now, especially those two areas, one has busy shape and the other looks really cheap with so much empty space.

I find it to be an excellent evolution of the first gen. At the same time it's concerning that Audi's most extrovert four door.................has not pushed the boundary that far. Front he front it does unfortunately look like "just another Audi". The S7 will add a bit of edge but still, Audi could have pushed the envelope on the headlight and bumper designer.

Bravo, tops any Mercedes and Bmw offered and will offer in the segment.

Whoa, someone who can look into the future!

The new A7 looks better than the previous, but that's about it for me. Even the CLS will be better from what I've seen, and that one doesn't look overly hot either...

My opinion regarding the design of the new A7 (for what its' worth) is, for the most part, favorable. A few arguably rather minor details are not optimally resolved. The optional afterthought sensors placed between the grill slats, for example. Annoying to the eye. Or the wheels not having been pushed out a mere few mm on each side which would have ensured a more flush fitting with the lips of the wheel arches (which I assume will be corrected on the S7/RS7 versions). The dash vents could have perhaps been a bit more elegantly integrated.

Otherwise, it's a pretty solid effort by the Lichte-supervised design team. Sharp, precise, technical and ...yes...sexy. I detect a trace of the new Bentley Continental GT as well. A good thing.

I'm eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see the car "in the metal". I was absolutely floored when I first saw its' predecessor some 7 years ago. Much more impressive than in the photographs or videos of the time.

I really like it's exterior. Personally I wouldn't mind a bigger design jump, a bit more guts. I do understand however, that companies usually see design jumps as a risk.
The interior looks good, rather techy and modern...now. Tomorrow it will look dated. That's just only one of the gripes I have with these tft-and touchscreen interiors of today's modern cars. HMI via touchscreens as such, is one of the biggest mistakes of carindustry imo. Unsafe, looks terrible after touching the screens, which latter is just cheaplooking. And that for a car that will cost, with the usual gadgets and gimmicks circa € 100.000,- (as I expect in Germany).

Never liked the A7 ... It looks creepy. So, not liking the new one either (despite the sharper styling). I prefer conventional 4dr coupes not 5dr fastback coupes (incl. Panamera).

The latest Audi interiors are just too cold & too techy ... Too industrial, too sterile. They lack warmth & allure, charm. Yes, the fit perfectly to Audi's avantgarde image but ... Not for me though. I prefer something more Scandinavian looking: minimalistic (not sparse!) but still warm & alluring & luxurious.

Latest Audi exterior & interior styling gives me Death Star / Darth Vader vibes. Spooky ...

Same here.
it sits on the acceptable side.
The previous version was never a head turner for me either.
This new one is more techno in design but it lacks soul.

Totally agree with this.
The graphics is the one element in the screens that will age as fast as last years cell phones.
The problem is Audi does not put much attention to detail in the interior hardware, leaving the graphics as the main center show piece. It is trendy and thats it.
The E-Class, for example, has some old-school themes like the round air vents and brushed metal accents to name a few that look classy and will age better I believe.
It does not take much imagination on which one will have more soul when todays trends wear off 5-years down the line.

This is slightly OT but I really like the way you set this topic up. It actually made me think about how new topics are created. I have wondered about creating a new thread for Germancarforum.com's "Car Of The Year" - are we objective enough? :D

We could make a list of new cars introduced during 2017 and vote preferentially. Or we could have different categories.
Just a thought.
