Thanks for the review. The Saab 9-3 definitely won't match the BMW's chassie, if driving enjoyment is an absolute must have, then pick the BMW, the Saab cannot match it. When are you going to test drive the Saab, i will be interested in your opinion.

I dont know since Im not trading car yet but before I buy a car I will testdrive an Aero and once I do a report will come. That's a promise.

I didn't read through all the posts yet, but so far, I think the BMW is the better choice (if both are used cars). The 120i delivers better fuel economy and the same performance apparently as the Saab 9-3 you're considering. It's RWD, which is important to most driving enthusiasts. The Saab 9-3 is a sweet looking car (I really dig those), but it's FWD and even with tuning potential, you're probably going to be entering the torque steer zone with that thing if you overdo it. Stick to the RWD BMW which seems to have the same performance but much better fuel economy.

Plus, you're still single and have no kids, right? Get the BMW. :D

On a side note, I can't wait for our 118i. I wish my dad would just order it now!

i voted accidentally for the saab...i would get the bimer out of those two because i love RWD..however the saab looks damn good...i would also consider depreciation

I vote for the Saab, the BMW is just too ugly.

Unfortunaly for you, design isnt everything for me. If the car looks alright (which 1er does) and the car is more involving to drive than thats more important to me. Your onesided comment isnt enough to change opinion ;)
Saab will get the chance from me, no doubt. - Money and - the Saab must be damn good to drive, those are the two reasons why I would buy a Aero over 1er.

Damn right, cars as ugly as the 1-Series get no play from me, ever. Unfortunate, onsided? I think not. Same thing with you and your requirement that a car must drive a certain way, hence your preference for BMWs. Is that onsided and unfortunate too? Not to you it isn't. We all have preferences, mine in non-ugly cars.

No, how they drive isnt everything, I said it before, its important but so is the whole package, a good looking car is nice but its not everything. 1er is not ugly imo, I like both 9-3 and 1er so its a tie there. The best compromise for me will be my choice.

This is what I said in the first post "I know many members here base the car ONLY on the looks but I dont want you to do that. Look at the overall package, the best total package." So yes, your comment isnt helpful, looks is so individual thats why I dont want votes based on looks.

Just get what you know you want anway and be done with it, the BMW. We just have to agree to disagree about the 1's looks, its an awfully nasty looking little thing to me.

Good, then I know I wont be using your vote in this poll - it's totally useless :D

Pretty much like using a poll for others to decide or have a say in which car you should get.

M

you got that right and I would never buy a car based on a poll on GCF but its intresting nonetheless to see what people vote for but still, your vote is still most worthless here :D

Right along with the worthless poll.

M

No Markus, the poll isnt worthless but your vote is :D you just had to push the vote button and end it there but you had to write how much you hate the 1er ;)

Its "Marcus" and this polls is about as worthless a poll as I've seen here. You know full well folks here aren't going to put a Saab over a BMW. Completely and utterly worthless polls if there ever was one.

haha Marcus, its easy to push your buttons and get you all excited ;) you can clearly see in your writting when you are stirred up :D but Okey, you are out of balance right now so let us leave it there. You hate the 1er which I knew already.

I'm gonna chime in with a vote for the SAAB. I have had two SAABs (9-5 Aero) that my wife uses as a daily driver. Both were great cars. The current one (2003 model year) is an excellent car. We have had it since new, and have had only 1 (very) minor problem with the driver's visor.

It is an excellent freeway cruiser, comfortable and quiet with plenty of pep. I have had it up to about 140MPH, and while it didn't feel quite as solid as my RS4, it was plenty stable. In spirited driving in the twisties, it does get a little nose heavy because of the FWD, but it still handles well. The 9-5 is also bigger/heavier than the 9-3, so I'm guessing that the 9-3 will handle better. I have looked at the new 9-3, and I think that it is a stylish ride. The interior is also well thought out and comfortable.

The lease on our 9-5 just expired, and we had the choice to turn it in, or keep it. It was a no brainer. It is still like new. We kept it.

Good luck!
