Touareg [Official] VW Touareg (CR - Third Gen)

And what would we, customers, have won, when VW didn’t exist anymore in it’s current form. Not to mention all the people who are working, direct or indirect, for VW. And why not take a step back and talk about the limits that are set and the scientific basis of those limits. It’s not as “black and white” as you’re stating.
When you intentionally brake the law the things are exactly as simple as this: black and white

Does anyone already know about the prices in Germany and is there information out on consumption and emissions of the 3.0 TDI?

And yes, I see the big mistake that I made, stay corrected: When it is proven that you intentionally broke the law the things are exactly as simple as this: black and white

It actually angers me the VW has introduced a new production Touareg that remains very close to the original 2016 Prime-T Concept...and yet...did not follow-up on that gorgeous 2015 Concept C GTE Coupe concept (the China-only Phideon does not count). Audis' D5 A8 is excruciatingly boring in comparison methinks.

I’m really not feeling the looks of this car, guess I’m in the minority but the Tiguan looks way better. Maybe in the metal it will look as pleasing as it’s little brother.

this seems to be the first configurator online. Quite a difficult language btw I configured one 286 hp V6 diesel for about 90.300 euro including 21% VAT (starting price R line version 73.000 euro):

Volkswagen konfigurátor

Antimonium color (920 e)
wheels 21" Suzuka (3200 euro)
R line version
night vision (1950 e)
innovation cockpit (3300 e)
driving assistance packet (950 e)
head up display (1370)
lights packet and some other minor things (1250 e)
basic parking packet (600 e)
R line leather Vienna (1650 e)
sound system dynaudio (1790 e)
external black trims (not chrome) (300 e)

an expensive car at the end even if well equipped..

I absolutely love this car - a tech-fest and elegant evolution of the last model, which was a handsome vehicle. Easily the best looking of the MLBevo platform brood [Q7, Cayenne, Urus, Bentayga *shudder*]. With the same engine and output as the base Cayenne [the 3.0L turbo V6 with 340 hp], this might be the pick of the sensible gasoline litter.

The process for changing temperature of switching on heated seats is cumbersome and distracting if the driver is following the Satnav on the central screen.

If you spec an X5, GLE or Cayenne with things like night vision, head up display, driving assistant package and other options they get very expensive too. Those options rarely amount to any additions to the resale value.

yes I know, since I am looking for the right SUV for my next 5 years..When you spec the X5 for example, with similar optionals you will be asked to pay about 12.000 euro more. The point is that if you detract the discount and in my country, for companies, even the Vat, the gap will be just around 8500 euro..And in this case for me and many others like me, I don't know if it will be easy to renounce for example to the new X5 just to name one of the contenders...in favor of this nice (I like it believe me) Touareg..
Xc 90 and Xc 60 are cheaper the first and much cheaper the second and are nice options too. I mean there is a lot of competition out there. Cayenne is not offered diesel anymore so is out of my list and btw would cost one kidney..

The XC60 use noticeably cheaper materials in the interior than the XC90 and V90. It's premium, not a luxury car.

If you are not in a rush you will, at the end of the year, be able to compare the GLE, Touareg and new X5 :)

I was looking through a Touareg PDF brochure for the Middle East market [available here: https://www.volkswagen-me.com/conte...000347-VW-Touareg-Campaign-A4-Flye-EA-New.pdf] and there will be two engines on offer:
  1. The 3.0L TFSI with 250 kW/340 hp and 450 Nm of torque
  2. And, interestingly, a 2.0L TFSI with 185 kW/250 hp and 370 Nm of torque
The 2.0L is most likely the EA888 engine in everything from the Golf GTI to multiple Audis and the base Macan, but it has me curious since I don't recall reading that the new Touareg would be offered would anything smaller than a V6 bar a future hybrid setup. I wonder how the performance of the four-banger will be; I'll call the dealer tomorrow with more information.

If it makes for a tantalizing prospect, I might upgrade out of my current 2011 Touareg for one of these new four-bangers...

Lately, I was invited to a benchmarking of premium SUVs including a car under development and several competitors one of which was the all-new Touareg. The testing routine included stationary (design, assembly, fit & finish, etc.) and dynamic parts (real life driving scenarios, race track, moose test, etc.) that also tackle assistance systems, vision, HMI and so on. The exemplars that were included in the tests all had a price tag between 91 and 99 thousand Euro.
Bottom line: I and most of the involved collegues were rather underwhelmed by the car, especially when taking into consideration its price. To state it very clearly: It drives really well and is comfortable. What is a let-down is the overall design and the interior, in particular. The huge screens are rather nice to look at, yes, but they do not offer practical advantages. The trim below the screen that runs all across the dash was finished in alu, felt nicely massive and had an authentically textured surface. But this piece was about it. Everything else in the interior is ok but there are really few highlights. The doorpockets are hard plastic when even in a Kodiaq, those are covered with textile. The few knobs are like in the predecessor, the knurled one feels much too light with little feedback. Second row is really plain. Luggage compartment ok but also more Passat than Phaeton. If this Touareg really is Volkswagen‘s effort to position this vehicle as their new top-line product, they failed. Also, it is kind of an irritating tendency that shows in recent VW and VAG products. To me, they re-define their own standards but not necessarily in a good way as they seem to move away from their „handbuilt-like quality“ dogma.
