S90/V90 [Official] Volvo S90 Official first pics

The Volvo S90 is an executive sedan manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars from 2016 to 2025. Its estate variant is the Volvo V90.
I'm not so sure about that. When it comes to design, the devil is in the details. For me it's a reason not to buy a S/V90.
I still think those people are minority. You like it or not but this is going to be another success for Volvo.
And no offense to you Mick but you own a S-class why would you buy a Volvo.

Because I've got a weak spot for Volvo. Why wouldn't I buy one.... In 1998 I drove a S40 T4 for 2 years. I like Volvo :)

Impressive. So this will premiere @ Geneva?

What is not as impressive is the photographers skills.
Do you think it is good for the photographers career at Volvo that his face is visible in the mirror in one of the pictures...

I doubt its going to be major problem for Volvo. Nobody is going to refuse a S90 because of how the shutline is designed ;)

What might disgruntle swedes is the raked rear window. Although it makes the car more attractive than the V70, it's less practical. It's as if Volvo are now making the XC90 the defacto practical Volvo to dethrone the V70 which has been Sweden's favorite and most rational car for decades.

^ Yeah, but isn't the new V90 bigger than V70 to begin with? It will likely have ample space.

Is there a new small SUV's coming from Volvo soon?
I saw three heavy camoflauged Volvo cars today. The shape which was hard to tell reminded about larger version of V40.

^ beautiful car, but why that ugly hood shutline? Volvo got that right with the XC90, but can't with the S90/V90.
Its a problem on all new cars, they extending the plastic bumper/grill up to bonnet level apparently to save insurance costs (as plastic bumper is cheaper to replace/repair than the cars bonnet) and also it protects pedestrians better in case (soft deformable plastic versus hard metal bonnet edge) the driver had to knock a pedestrian.

The funny thing is, as far as I know, is that Volvo themselves 'invented' this visible hood shutline. I am the self proclaimed hood shutline expert, and I believe I first saw it on a Volvo. Possibly the first gen S80. I was absolutely appalled, and the heart almost stopped when I saw BMW taking this 'feature' over (as did many brands since then). Audi has always been strong in resisting this shutline and I applaud them for it, and the joys of BMW returning to neat shutlines is like the biggest pro of this whole upcoming generation of Bimmers.

The A6 definitely has the best hood shutline out of those cars I also like that Audi has kept only a narrow plastic bumper section between the bonnet line and outer bumper edge.

Those were the days of beautiful bonnet shutlines:(

Not sure if this video has been posted before but it shows the stunning front and profile of this car and beautiful interior. A pity about the back lights.

I spoke a Volvo Guy lately, and according to him the V90 is 1,5 class above the current V70. The current typical V70 customer gets it,s replacement in the future V60, which will be larger and boxier/less lifestylish.

The hood shutline might be an uninteresting part for many people but for me its existence change the look of a car in a non insignificant kind.

Yes there will be a new XC60 and when the new small platform 40 series models appear Volvo have said there will be an XC40, 2018 is the release date Volvo say it will come. The first 69 series models should arrive next year.

Rendering of the XC 40.
Or maybe they will rename it XC 30 for consistency?

No I think it will be XC40. Volvo will have 3 series, 40, 60 & 90. My guess the future model line up will be:

S40
V40
V40 Cross Country
XC40

S60
V60
V60 Cross Country
XC60

S90
V90
V90 Cross Country
XC90

I also think we will eventually see a CC90 or CC60.
