In ICE G60's coming to America the donut spare is under the trunk floor. I saw this myself at a dealership. Can't imagine why that wouldn't be the case elsewhere.
It’s exactly the same here in SA. ICE G60s have a space saver spare housed under the floor of the trunk. EV G60s, on the other hand appear to have space restrictions imposed by the electric drivetrain which precludes placement of the spare under the trunk floor.

I saw one parked early this morning, whilst driving by. A dark colour, standard exterior specification (non M-line). Must say, the front looked rather nice but it really is a big car (for a 5er). It's height makes it stand out.

Basically, you're rolling around in a car with an overly large material footprint with minimal interior space advantages.
It's like wearing size 10 shoes with double layers and larger soles than the shoes need to be.

The designers probably had no choice but to "downscale" the appearance of it simply because of the mass it is hauling around.

An honest review from Joe. I think his overall analysis of the M60 concurs with what most on here and elsewhere, have discussed regarding quality, dynamics, value and among other things the overall experience.

I'm not overly convinced by the new 5 series and wouldn't call it a resounding success but I'll reserve final judgement with time and experience.

Hey guys do you know will the 540i or 540d will be available in Europe since Mercedes provide such 6 cylinder powertrains for their E class for EU markets?

To summarise, he's shocked that the i5 M60 xDrive he's testing is £118,000 list, which is absolutely mental.

To compare, the Taycan GTS starts at £110,000 in the UK, and comes quite well-specced. You certainly don't need to go above £115,000, which means you could walk away with a Porsche for less money than the i5 M60. Both cars have similar performance.

Who on earth would sink £118,000 into an i5?

Agree. While both car have a similar size and performance, Porsche is just one (or more) step above BMW in terms of brand perception.

And to be fair, that i5 M60 must be fully loaded, so it's not comparing like-for-like exactly, so maybe I should have said "who would buy *that particular* i5 over a Taycan GTS?" Not many.

However, the base price of the i5 M60 is just shy of £100,000, which is still bonkers.

M5 pricing.

No doubt the E53 will be just as expensive when it appears.

It's the top spec V8 replacement. The M550i or previous V8 5er were definitely on Panamera level price wise, so I don't see the particular crazy part.
All I know that is vastly more cheap than a V8 or other gasoline Bimmer with the same specs would be. Like at least 50k cheaper.

But these prices are still batshit insane. For the Taycan too.
M5 is going to be twice the price of an i5 M60 over here.

Price in NL starts at € 108,427 for the BMW i5 M60 and € 146,663 for the Porsche Taycan GTS. (Source EV database).

Picked up a new 5 Series today. First time driving one, and I have it until next Wednesday. Will do around 1,500km over the next three days, starting with a drive first thing in the morning from the southern Netherlands to Hamburg, and then maybe up to Denmark for the day on Sunday.

Mineral White
Quite nicely specced, including ventilated seats, not that I'll be needing them in this weather.

Lot's of snow int he southern part huh Matthew? Here above the rivers it's nowhere to be seen......
Nice spec indeed. You're basically the first with some first hand info here, and I can't wait to read it.

And is your trip to Denmark something you have to go to, or just a nice road trip? I never go north, I don't know why. But I guess Denmark is a nice destination if you're already up there in Hamburg. Have a good journey!
