X1 [Official] The new 2022 BMW X1 and iX1

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
So then we should include the entire BMW SUV line up when speaking sales number because Tesla have only one SUV and the X3 is but 1 model SUV in the BMW line up?
...Should we then not compare all BMW SUV sales to the Tesla Model Y?
Depends on what you are really trying to do, right?
a. Score forum brownie points by finding a stat that paints a favorable picture of your favorite brand - sure all BMW SUVs together outsell Y*, let us cheer that.
Or b. actually highlight the underlying market reality - in the market for 2 similar vehicles, Y is winning by huge margins.

I am exclusively trying to do the latter. I have nothing to cheer about Tesla (beyond that they are spearheading EV adoption).

*All BMW SUVs together outsell Y - even that will probably come to an end soon given the current trend. It is already so in US in Q1 - 45k all BMW X vehicles together vs 55k Model Y.

Again, I am not saying this to cheer Tesla, but just to highlight market trend and what BMW is missing out by not having a competitive product in the rapidly growing EV SUV market.

One enters this thread through the new X1 (as in almost all the threads of this brand) and finds eternal shitty sausages of Teslas texts, one must continually go out to clarify the misleading information that is published trying to get us into the throat and forcibly match a brand that has nothing to do here

It hurts when you are so far behind the benchmark.

Of course, how many years will Tesla need to sell the annual amount that BMW sells or have an iota of its history, I agree 100% with you on that.
Tesla is a brand to admire for its achievements and merits in the new world order, but it is not fair to compare it with giants

The new X2's front end likely won't end up being an almost carbon copy of the X1's (X3/X4 and X5/X6 style), in fact quite the opposite probably (GLB/GLA style) given how deliberately square/boxy the X1 is, but for what it's worth:

That's kind of nice, but I think it will be much more radical and differentiated from the more restricted X1

What is going on with the front bumper design? Looks very strange? The rear design reminds me a Volkswagen.

The 2nd gen X2 needs to be better thought out. Gen 1 had the right itensions but was a confused car:
-Not visually aspirational enough.
-Dated interior from day 1.
-Barely roomier than a hatchback.
-Poor value compared with an X1 or even X3.

Presenting new cars with human models is f#cking awful
Time to stop this nonsense. Why are these people constantly ruining all the pictures?

- for you
- yes
- so?
- a 911 is also poor value compared to a Cayenne

The new X1 is from 48K Euro in my country, and it is the only BMW below 50k I'd consider next to the new 2er coupe which is the same price but 4 times less useful.

It's wonderful all around. I'd love to have an iX1. For the 2er it really needs to be an M240i to be any fun, otherwise I see no point.

The First X2 like many others came in the middle of the lifecycle of its sister vehicle. Generally they are cost effective until the next generation. The Second X2 will benefit greatly being based on the all new X1 which will put the X1 series in its three generations over the 1million units mark.
