"At the verge"?I am interested if we are at the verge of car design not being the number one reason to buy a certain car.
The automobile is in the early stages of a major transformation, both technologically and socially.
They needed some unique headline grabbing feature, so this is it. Tesla is entering the automotive market with the approach of a tech company, they will learn from their mistakes along the way. They are building their own factory for the cars, the huge battery manufacturing facilities as well as the electrical charging network not just in America, but around the world as well, so they can only do so much at once. After they have build a solid foundation, I hope their next generation of cars will be vastly better, because the Germans are coming really fast.their focus is at the wrong place, those doors are probably damn expensive. i guess they have som safety feature to blow off the hinges like the SLS had if the car ends up upside down?
all that money, put that into making a decent interior, plastic everywhere..
if you look at the video by saabkyle notice how the driver door rattles when closing.
there is so much more to do before you dump money into gullwing doors on a damn SUV.
This car is shaped like an egg, but I like it. Hopefully they will improve interior on Model 3.
Btw. I dont see gullwing as practical door solution, yes it is attractive but opening is so slow. And what if sensors go broke, you cant open your rear doors? Even driver/passanger door is electric, what if something goes wrong, can you open it?
Honestly, what did they expect from those doors?
N/A V8 wins over fancy doors any day, it is sad to see how tech gadgetry is being seen as "cooler" than a Ferrari N/A V8.Free publicity and hype!
