Gorgeous car. O.K., the gloss-black trim option is arguably an "acquired taste". Those particular rims are mega on a white car.

So we've thinking of replacing our Model S with the upcoming 4 e-hybrid, but a quick trip to the configurator immmeidately shows how ridiciulous Porsche optional pricing is. Initially, the $99k USD MSRP seemed rather reasonable. However...

Adding just driver's assistance, wheels, and sports seats... $31,100USD. Haven't even gotten to Exterior options, performance options, interior & leather options, wood, or telecommunications yet.

Any of the nice rims are $5.5k.

A spec to my liking is $160k, or 60% over MSRP. Finding a Panamera off the lot with all the options desired is nearly impossible.

^Buy used and avoid the depreciation. Here is a new one at my dealer for 20k off -

New Vehicle Special Offers at Porsche of Fremont

My signficant other is a self-inducted member of green peace, so the only way I can get rid of the Model S is if it's a hybrid or an ev replacement. Porsche estimates the new 4 e-hybrid will get 94 mpg-e highway. The EPA has yet to test it though.

If I had my way I'd go Turbo everyday of the week.

What does your wife think of your DBS and the Range Rover and how do you get around her "environmentally friendly" stance.

Did you pull the trigger yet?

Does she care about the options and performance though? She'd be happy with a base model .

The same car starts at $269433 AUD, before any option, and those wheels you have selected cost over $10000 AUD !!!!

We sort of made a compromise; she's got her "dream car", then I got mine.

I was against getting a Tesla for the longest time. The funny thing is I ended up being right in this instance because of all the issues she's had (of course I'm still not right:cautious:). It really says something when you end up hating your dream car quickly.

Does she care about the options and performance though? She'd be happy with a base model .

She only cares about the driver's assistance packages, so just adding all of that is $25k since they're lumped into 3 seperate packages. With Tesla, most driver's assistance features are standard, sometimes new features are added remotely via software update - big difference.

Once you get used to lane-departure warning and blind spot assist, getting into a car without it feels like going back in time. Pedestrian warning can be useful, but you have to be a real idiot to have to rely on it often.

If it's not PHEV or EV, she does not want to hear about it. This is where Tesla has had a giant cake-walk for the past 6 years having no real competition.

I just took a look at the new Lexus LS500h. Nice price, but the hybrid powertrain and fuel efficiency is straight out of 2005. Toyota just keeps applying that 3.5L hybrid powerplant to every single model.

Toyota had real potential in being the leader when they were the first brand to popularize hybrid tech, but in typical Toyota fashion, they sat on their asses.

Oh yeah and in ordinary porsche fashion its faster than claimed

I should have been clearer, I didn't mean buy Turbo specifically, but look for used or even look for a nice deal on one in the lot to avoid some nasty depreciation. Or just wait for Mission E :)

The Mission E will no doubt be more expensive than the Panamera.

Agreed. I recently drove a car without a backup camera and I felt like I was missing one of my senses.
Blind spot assist will be mandatory some day like backup camera. LDW is annoying, I turned off the first day.

Porsche ceo Said it Will cost as much as panamera..
It's already an expensive car.. I don't think they intend to push the mission e close to 200K euro ..
