Cayenne Official: Porsche Cayenne MKII

The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV, and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle.
JLBM, sorry to dissapoint bro. It is just that otherness and presence of the GT that really gets me going. I surely love the 5GT for no other reason than it's styling - in the same way I like the Porsche Panamera.
What I can ad is the fact that the W212 is a superb car, I love the front end and interior and also the fact that that is just how and E-class should look like EXCEPT the rear end! Merc used to make the best rear ends IMO....W212 rear end looks as if it has been designed by Lexus.:t-cheers:

Agree with 100% on the rear of the 212 Human. Klier, have you had a chance to drive the new Cayenne yet? We got a go at it and were amazed by the ride comfort (the car had the optional air suspension). It was as smooth as butter, but the performance of the Cayenne S V8 was nothing to write home about.. A BMW X5 or X6 50i would destroy it up at our altitudes..

JLBM I am always happy to hear about IRL driving experiences, in Fith Gear's review they complained about the ride (Air Suspension) on British B-roads. Your opinion is opposite to theirs, albeit on normal roads they said the ride is firm but compliant.

I must have missed their review but for them to suggest the ride quality was poor on UK roads is amazing, I would go as far as to say they must not have driven it then because it's ride is exactly as JLBM describes.

@JLBM, which rims were on the one you drove?

I have driven the Diesel (18" rims), a Cayenne S (20" rims) and the Hybrid (20" rims) and all of them had the air suspension. The Diesel had the best ride which was understandable given that it had the smallest rims and the biggest sidewall but even with the 20" the ride was right up there with my Jaguar XF. The only possible complaint I could level at it's suspension was that it could become a little floaty on bumpy roads when on it's comfort setting but again this was being extremely picky.

Correction: My sincere apology Footie I think it was Roadfly's review (I will find the video/article again, just have to search);)

No worries, simple mistake. :t-cheers:

But in all honesty if/when you get to drive one yourself I bet you that you will be blown away by the ride of this SUV.

P.S.
I also mirrored JLBM's opinion that the Cayenne S isn't that impressive along side the X5 5.0i with regards to poke, that's why I chose the Diesel as a mild chip tune boost power to 290hp and 630Nm, quite enough in my opinion.

Oh the Brits are always complaining about their "B" roads :) We drove from Porsche Fourways to Kyalami, the roads are not the greatest, but I don't think they're as bad as Brit B roads, nevertheless, it was a very smooth ride..

@Footie, to be honest I can't remember. They would have been the standard Cayenne S rims I believe..

JLBM, the highlander that he is, has been bitten by the turbo-surge bug. Shame, he's hooked now. ;)

Ask me...

As for naturally aspirated Cayenne V8 vs xDrive50i? Up here on the reef it's no contest but I'd still buy the Cayenne. How fast do you really need an SUV to be? :D

My point exactly, that's why I chose the diesel. :usa7uh:

You guys are nuts. :D

To me, the 5 GT should feel flattered to be mentioned in even the same sentence as the E-Class. I see it akin to a large barf bag, I'd actually probably be embarrassed to drive it. F10 & F01 on the other hand, a completely different story. BMW at their finest.

BUT, beauty is, we all can love different cars, and that's what keeps manufacturers pumping out diverse models (let's keep it this way, because cars are getting close enough to each other as it is).

In fact, I wish more of the U.S.A agreed with you guys, as I'd be more than happy for my car to be as rare on the roads as a 5'er GT. :D

As for the rear of the E, I agree, it is lacking in a major way from the factory. But with a few little tweaks, I feel it can go from bland to hot, from Jekyll, to Hyde.

Even during a trusty trip back from Las Vegas, covered in dirt from all the dried up rain and middle-of-nowhere-Highway junk, I loved the rear of my ride enough, I snapped this pic last night: :t-drive:

And yes, back to the Cayenne. The first one was whatever to me, and I don't think I'd ever want an SUV as my primary car. But aside from the rear (I'm seeing a trend here from Auto Manufacturers), I'm liking it in many Pics/Vids. That Commercial of the guy checking his out in his garage made me want to have one in my Garage! :t-hair:

@Martin, I have to agree with you.. The new Cayenne is by far the most desirable. I would even take the Cayenne S over an X5M. It has amazing pedigree and a rarity to it (although, not so rare in JHB!)

Only 5 week before mine is here. Kind of getting excited as only a new car can bring.

Will you be keeping the S4 Avant after the Cayenne arrives? What are the specs of your Cayenne?

Yeah, the S4 will remain this time, well for a few months anyway until I decide what to change the wife to.

spec on the Cayenne diesel

Metallic Black.
Full Leather dark brown over a mid tan colour (can't recall the names).
Sat Nav.
Bose.
Multifunction heated steering wheel
Air suspension.
Full memory pack.
20" alloys.
Parking Sensors.
Telephone pack.
iPod, USB connection.

These are the main ones which spring to mind.

Your father got that car you mean ;) But congrats anyways.

That was a joke btw, don't be offended please.

Considering my father died only 2 months ago your joke didn't create the funny response from me that you wanted.

Great timing, thanks.

Dude, you can't fault Klier on a joke he made considering NO ONE on here knows about your dad's passing.

My condolences. RIP to you farther.
