I am curious how the new 718 Spyder will be received. On one hand, it gets all the GT4 goodies - GT4 PASM suspension, bigger wheels, brakes which 981 Spyder didn't. On the other hand, the common wisdom was the Spyder was the better street car than the 981 GT4, cause of those exact reasons - analogue suspension, less ultimate grip, but more delicate and playful handling. And now it probably loses that by gaining GT4 hardware.

I also think 981 Spyder is the best looking modernPorsche in a long long while. 718 Spyder looks great too but lost some of that grace.

The 981 Spyder was already too fast for most roads but GT spec hardware and a new engine is definitely appealing. If you're going to buy a fast car, get the best parts. As hard as it is to admit, you'll have more fun more of the time on public roads in a Miata than any car at the Spyder's (or even base 718's) level of performance.

981 Spyder wins the beauty contest but the 987 Spyder is the better driver's car.

PDK must have massively increased the appeal of the GT3 not just in the USA but globally. Even a Pista is as civilised as a Golf at pedestrian speeds compared w...
