Really? There are too many to even list. Almost every sporty NA 4 cyl engine from the past sounds better. Unless you specifically meant turboed 4 cyl engines, even then, Focus RS sounds much better (from the videos I have seen/heard so far).

Recently I read somewhere that the boxster 981 is one of the least depreciating models for the last few years. This new more expensive 718 is just only going to make 981 models hold value even better... That means I won't be able to get one

Ok, so I just test drove the new Boxster S. The difference in performance between this and our Cayman GTS is phenomenal - it blows the Cayman out of the water. I got a shock at the sense of thrust and speed the first time I floored it. It truly is sensational. Yes, it has lost a little character.. But to be honest, the press have exaggerated it a little. The biggest loss to character is not when accelerating or gearing down. It's when you are coasting.. Then it sounds a little inane. In my view it's a small price to pay for all the other benefits. The car I drove didn't have the sports exhaust. But the power and torque, oh lordy!! Infotainment is much improved. I specced a new car with most of the stuff I'd want (not all of it) and it came to an eye watering R1.25 million..

I think the press, might be EVO, said that the Boxster S is matching the speed of the 996 GT2? Did you have your Cayman GTS valued at the dealer too? I would imagine these cars have appreciate in value.

No we didn't, but I don't expect the 6 cylinder GTS has yet achieved the appreciation in resale, that will come in a few years.

Here, GTS prices got depressed because of the close release of GT4 and most with one were/trying to trade it in for a GT4. But I think that wave is done and while it might not appreciate right away, but should hold steady.

If that is your thing, you should try a Tesla, especially ludicrous thing, it will literally f*** you up.

I know the GT4 is special, but the new Boxster S gives it a thrashing in the performance stakes. That's how far along its come..

Yes, I believe the Tesla is incredible..
