Passat CC Official: New Passat CC 4-door Coupe

Reminds me of the new Honda Accord from the side. Or the RL.

It is nice and sleek looking, though.

I like it. Though it is really stretch to call it a coupe even by CLS standards. But I am glad they avoided the banana on wheels look that plagues CLS from certain angles (probably cause the shoulder line in the VW keeps going up unlike the CLS where it drops reinforcing the dropping roof line to give the banana look).

this is more upscale than the passat sedan yet it doesn't have LED brake light? i mean, without it, the back looks so generic it belongs to some korean car. beside the interior, i think passat sedan is still better looking.
oh and, like many other have already asked? what target segment are they reaching for with this car?

Dam so much discussion has taken place over night, I will probably say something that has been said before.

I have been looking at photos of the Passat CC and the Passat sedan for the entire day, and I still can't help but think that the Passat looks more like a facelift version of the sedan than a different model. Most of the members here react negatively towards the car, and I feel the same way. A coupe is supposed to have a sense of dynamic and sporting intention in the design, IMO, if this can be done with a 4 door package like the RX-8 and the CLS then the result can be extremely attractive. The designers for this Passat Coupe failed, partly because VW want to have a visual connection with their Passat sedan, thus this coupe looks like a facelift version of the sedan, and partly because of the front wheel drive layout. The extremely long front over hang ruins the proportions of the car, so the car doesn’t look well balanced at all. I guess there is only so much the designers can do. The car does look good from certain angles but overall it doesn't look special enough.

Though I like it I see what everyone is saying. If anything it looks like what the original donor car should have been from the start. Still though I think in person it will have a more dramatic effect on the eyes IMO.

I just noticed that we in the U.S. don't the 300hp 3.6 engine, only the 280hp version. Great going VW there was a prime reason for buying this over the regular Passat. That roofline had better be really low like the CLS in real life otherwise VW is going to have a hard sale on their hands IMO.

I think its the most beautiful design from VW in a long time :D

BTW I'm not as byast as you think I hated the IROC and GX3 those designs everyone loved but were not VW in design or DNA IMO.

This car has elements of R36, Tiguan and Phaeton its very well exceuted :usa7uh:

VW will most likely place this at current or similar prices to the Passat in US with the NMS to take on Camry and be more blander.
As for Europe and elsewhere expect a premium obviously.

This car is somewhat an oxymoron. Coupes, especially four door ones eveolve around style, image and prestige and frankly you can't be stylish in a VW. That car will look teribally uncool when a CLS pulls up next to it. I just find it to be a budget me-too car and fails at it's purpose which is to make the owner look fashionably cool. The VW DNA in the design and the badge does ruin it a bit.

I think this is my new favorite Volkswagen! Absolutely beautiful. :eek2:

I think VW has a winner on their hands. It will definitely do well in Europe where people are slowly getting used to "expensive VW's", but what about America?

I still see no point in FWD large economy coupes: Passat CC, Laguna coupe, 607 coupe, Accord coupe, C5 coupe etc. Especially if not sold in US. IMO Europe is not that great market for the large coupes ... especially not the economy ones, premium ones are in a better position. And many buyers opt for a used premium coupe then a brand new economy one. Large coupes are all about image ... And I can't see no real image in eg. C5 coupe.

:t-hands:

I like the door panels of the cc a lot better than the regular passat. Hopefully the make their way to the Passat on the facelift.
