Some chit chat, some novelty, much of what direct competitors have been doing for a long time, like Jaguar discovering warm water.

Likewise, and without a doubt it is good news, if they do 25% of what they did with the Defender and the RR, it will be worth it and hopefully they will be reborn, I love their previous cars and I want to love the ones to come.

Exclusive: Jaguar's bold roadmap to a luxury car range by 2025

“We recognise that we’ve been quiet, we’ve been secret – deliberately so,” said Collins. “The core Jaguar words are ‘a copy of nothing’. Think of that in every element of the business; there may be some traditional ways of doing things and untraditional ways of doing things – we’re using that in all our thinking around Jaguar.

That article says exactly nothing. I don't think they're going to make it, then other times I think they're going to stun us with something really breathtaking. Only time will tell.

They aren't going to make it. Jaguar has receive their death sentence years ago.

They didn't do good with the XF and having not learnt their lesson, they failed with the XE and they failed spectacularly. They aren't gonna make it in the electric world either.

I thought it was only me. The quotes are a whole lot of waffle to buy time.

My same exact thoughts, bunch of words meaning nothing. Just to keep the name in people's heads.

The only guarantee that I see is, as I said before, that the good work done with Land Rover gives a distant hope.
The other is to target prices above £100,000, which if it's a different strategy, puts Jaguar in competition with Bentley? who does not have a clear competitor so far....
Everything has failed them so far as you say, at least going the other way may help them.

Aston with wonderful cars and a similar strategy doesn't quite work out for them.
Mercedes and it new "vision" remains to be seen if it works for them too
In any case, if they at least "comply" with bringing new models, whatever they may be, it will be entertaining to see, they start so low that we don't even know if they will comply, they have no credibility

I don't remember what happened to their ultra luxury brand Daimler. It was the first choice of all the royals in the world, way ahead of Rolls Royce and Bentley.
From DAIMLER UK, the last thing I know is that when Jaguar was bought by Ford it was a subsidiary of the Premier Automotive Group as part of the agreement, I don't know if it was in the JLR package for TATA, but it is a brand on standby, or " dead until resuscitated" which I don't think will happen in the short term

You correctly indicate something plausible, that Jaguar tries to take that position that Daimler held but with a much more recognized brand name

I remember the beautiful "Double Six", there is a classier way to call a V12....?

Precisely my sentiments as well.

The BEV age provides many golden opportunities for automotive designers. And as design remains a major selling point, I'm really hoping that Jaguar can somehow surprise us all with something truly monumental. I'm just sentimental, I reckon. I clearly recall the times when the series I and II XJ was considered by many to be the most beautiful 4 door sedan available. Maybe it's just that too many new products from German manufacturers are leaving me underwhelmed.

The I-Pace marked bold intentions to pivot towards becoming an EV brand. Am ambitious BE XJ was in the world. It would have been an EQS or Lucid Air rival but 1-2 years ahead but it was scrapped.

Damiler is still owned by JLR

The Daimler Company Limited, now The Daimler Motor Company Limited, is still registered as active and accounts are filed each year though it is currently marked "non-trading".

my granddad had a Daimler Double Six, the car was assembled in NZ, almost all Jaguar products imported into NZ until the early 80’s were assembled here.

Exclusive: Jaguar to return in 2025 with trio of electric sports SUVs

Three “jaw-dropping” crossovers will take Jaguar into Bentley territory, with new platform, tech and design

1656460519490.jpg

Electric sports crossovers to burst through the £100,000 barrier and take the brand into Bentley territory from 2025.
1656460567290.jpg

SUVs and batteries, the usual, aluminum platform, interesting, but the fact that they want to charge more than 100,000 does not mean that people will pay for it.

I see that they are forcing things to see if by magic they will compete with Bentley... ...

That's a right that has to be earned, and Jaguar hasn't done any credit for that lately, we'll see.

If they bring the design, engineering, tech and luxury they will make it. Otherwise forget it.

M

Jaguar is done.

They are struggling from one failure to the next.
Correctomundo.

To show how the reality is the opposite of the world-leading PR, renowned ICE-maker BMW is p!ssing all over "EV-brand" Jaguar - Norwegian EV registrations so far today, so far June, so far 2022. so far ever:

BMW is killing it. You hear nothing about "EV BMW", "BMW's Reimaging", 'its exciting future from year xxxx" etc, as opposed to the PR/propaganda outfit JLR, and the PR/propaganda outfit UK-US 'Media'.

One walks, the other talks - endlessly, at max volume, like English public school braying buffoons - Wallace and Vomit(UK defence sec. and Spaffer) spring to mind - talking to, or rather down to, inferior foreigners.

The jig's up - about 6 year ago; arguably 40 years ago, when 'Thatch' made out like a bandit, and flogged Jag for the UK Exchequer - it was beyond worthless then - its last glory product the XJ, 13 years old, and past it even in 1981.

Stop with the PR BS. It's fooling no one - anyone worth fooling - not retards.

What's really going on with this Haymarket - JLR PR contractor - 'Exclusive', is Tata is clearing the decks for another run at trying to IPO JLR.

A blind man can see that. Tata and its merchant bank advisers know that Jaguar is a sheet anchor, to getting JLR away, literally floated.

So, they came up with, around 18 months ago, and again now, retreaded, 'EV Jaguar', and 'Bentley-Jaguar'.

It's just to cauterize the total blood loss of Reality-Jaguar.

If they can fool enough cretins that Jaguar is not dead, has not been dead since at least New Gen flopped in 2015/16, with the sales disasters of XE and XF II, they think they can stop this gaping wound dragging down what they still see as the golden goose., 'most valuable brand in the world', 'Range Rover' - er, Land Rover. There is no Land Rover - 'Range Rover', and its ~5-10% less price clone 'Defender', is 'Land Rover'.

Tata seems not to have got the memo from Modi and the Indian establishment that UK is toast.

It's probably face-saving, and obstinacy, by the now very old, senile?, Ratan Tata. He is wedded to the JLR thing, Jag particularly. He is a child of the 1950s, when Jag truly was a world leader/beater.

The younger execs - <45 - at Tata group/Sons need to tell Ratan 'it's over'. Tata needs JLR like India needs UK - not at all, now.

Tata and India's future are in India, and Asia. UK, most of Europe, and the US are all bust, and headed for societal breakdown or civil war.

Who the hell wants to be embroiled in that.

Just tell Ratan to do one.

Fully agreed with the IPO. The only way to make money with Jag. IPOs incoming from Lotus, Renault EV, Porsche, maybe even Scout from VW, etc.

One walks, the other talks - endlessly, at max volume, like English public school braying buffoons - Wallace and Vomit(UK defence sec. and Spaffer) spring to mind - talking to, or rather down to, inferior foreigners.

That's debate class in the U.K. You don't have to have a point or make a point, just make sure you win your debate and make it look convincing. Like Boris the PM, you can tell the biggest lie, just make sure it comes over as real.
It's really all these people are good at. Debating culture. Experts in telling lies, nonsense and complete BS.

Good to know that JLR are working quietly on the reinvention of Jaguar. However I have concerns about time frames.

2024: Unveil one of the BEVs as a concept.
2025: Production begins, likely in late 2025 if you include delays.
2026: Exclusively ship overpriced 1st editions in the first 6 months at £100-120k. Roll out normal edition in H2 2026.
2027: Start shipping the affordable battery and engine config.

This does not look great. By 2026-2027 BEVs will be ubiquitous and Audi, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes offering reasonably priced BEVs of almost every single car model.

The jaguars would need to be drop dead sexy or feature alien battery tech in order to make a splash that will justify the high price tags that they will likely carry.

The general opinion here seems to be that all this BS for the lack of credibility and abandonment of the brand. I believe that the will does exist, otherwise the bosses would not be talking so much, although the fact that they do not talk about the big sedan is misleading if they want to position themselves so high

Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is the holding company for Jaguar Land Rover Limited, also known as JLR, a British multinational manufacturer of luxury and sports utility vehicles. JLR, headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, UK, is a subsidiary of Tata Motors. Jaguar and Land Rover, with histories dating to the 1920s and 1940s, merged in 1968 under British Leyland.
