3 Series (G50) [Spy shots] 2027 BMW 3 Series (G50)

The eighth generation of the BMW 3 Series range consists of the BMW G50 (sedan version, ICE), BMW G51 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and BMW G58 (long-wheelbase saloon) compact executive cars. It is to be unveiled and launched in 2026, with the next-generation M3 set to launch the year after. It will feature a new, minimalist design inspired by BMW's Vision Neue Klasse concept, and will be offered with both internal combustion and purely electric powertrains, though on different platforms. It replaces the G20 3 Series. Production: 2026 (to commence). Model years: 2027.
The concept was absolutely stunning — exactly what BMW needed to bring back that early 2000s , the kind Bangle used to nail. But these spy shots? Feels like they’re just playing it safe, not really a true 'Neue Klasse.' I really hope I’m wrong when the camo comes off, but damn — this was a real chance to be bold, futuristic, and pure BMW. Instead, it looks like 2011-level vanilla styling with a decade-old Tesla screen slapped in and called “revolutionary.” You can spend millions on PR and marketing, but we’re not dumb — copying Tesla’s interior from almost ten years ago isn’t innovation. Having the same exterior profile of the existing 5 seris with a few tweeks isn't innovation.

If they can fix the driving experience and bring back something truly magical, they’ve got a shot. But if it’s just boring, bloated electronic steering and the same old numb feel, + the Tesla ipad screen with a few angles to claim it's "driver oriented," then BMW needs to realize the days of marketing and throwing enough money at its consumers to convince us are over. Missed opportunity doesn’t even begin to cover it. I hope Im wrong...

You’re wrong and using a lot of text which totally misses the point. Comparing the BEV concept with an ICE G50 which is CLAR based is nonsensical. G50 will surely have similar front and rear as NA0 but profile is very much different, roofline and dash-to-axle ratio are not the same at all.

Eh. The proportions are one thing. But the sharp, angular cuts and shapes of the NK concept haven't translated to either the G50 or NA0 at all.

The G50 will be a similar concept to what happened with the ICE MINI. Visually similar to the electric MINI inside and out but still the current MINI. Maximum focus will be on the i3 however.

It's not about 1:1. A flatter trunk line, sharp hoffmeister kink with the greenhouse. Low flat hood line. These things can be done.

They can, and I'm sure if they didn't impact the plethora of regulatory considerations those design features might stick around - but the chances are they do have an impact, and that's why series production cars don't look like concept cars. Don't get me wrong, I'm as disappointed as anyone that the NK 3-er won't look like the VDX, but I'd never really expected it to.

A Concept car doesn't translate 1:1 with a series production car?

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
haha it doesn't even resemble the concept other than the front headlight unit (which is getting rather stale since they revealed it in 2023 (only 4 years before we would ever see it on the road in real life).

The remainder of the body looks bloated & recycled. Sorry for wanting something perhaps new..cool...different??

That’s the ice version. The ev m3 looks close to the concept.

The 3er is visually different to the i3. You know the 3er from when they changed the formula with the E36. Right up to today’s G20 there is a linage.
Long hood, stubby rear and rounded coupe like

The Vision car was to get the world for the Neue-Klasse. The car that is actually the next 3er in terms of scope and competence. The i3 has to beat the current 3er and its high level of competency.
