E-Class (W214) [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

It will be ugly. Maybe slightly less ugly than EQS but nevertheless ugly. It looks like it's overweight, an obese looking unsporty car.

What's so difficult about designing a three box sedan with an electric motor? I don't get how this car can look worse than an i4 considering it's sitting on a BEV-only plattform.

It looks like an FWD rental with Tesla front slapped on.

So yeah, really ugly.

The i4 is a hatchback or a fastback, not a 3 box sedan. If you look at the profile of it, it's not actually that different in shape to this electric C-class.

Yeah but his point likely is this: the i4 is compromised and this new C or whatever it is, is a dedicated BEV platform.

That doesn't mean it's not going to prioritize aerodynamics. The Model 3 has the same shape and is obviously on its own EV platform.

Perhaps. But I'm not sure there is necessarily some fundamental flaw in the EV architecture underpinning the electric C class that prevents it from being a 3-box sedan. That's certainly what I'd prefer.

It's definitely an intentional thing for aero purposes.
Most of the very best EVs on the market today, such as the Lucid Air, have a similar fastback shape because it's better for aero which plays a major factor into range.

Is that something they should be focused on? I dunno. Time will tell. I'd rather a proper sedan shape like the W206 and 214, but I'll reserve judgement when I finally see the finished product.

The new E53 AMG has some really nice spec options and colours.

the one below is pretty standard except for the 21inch wheels, panoramic sunroof and carbon interior trim and steering wheel.

I think it looks gorgeous like this:

A seriously stunning configuration.

I have long perceived the Porsche Taycan to be the most beautiful low ride height 4 door sedan currently available. But when seeing images like these, I am beginning to have my doubts. The design of the W/S214 is IMHO a genuine home run. And hopefully so sustainable that it will act as a template for many future M-B sedans, BEV and ICE Hybrid alike. Everything about its exterior simply appears so..."SPOT ON", so absolutely flawless.

Nice specification. Do you have a link?
If the cars in the press release were anything close to this it would have a better impression.

Alcantara instead of the grey wood would look nice to. How refreshing isn’t it to see the interior without gloss galore in the form of the hyperscreen?
