Some magazine had a chart of new model launches and remember seen the E-class AMG launch in July/August 2024 about the same time the new M5 will be launched

Next AMS issue coming out on tomorrow has comparison test of 520d vs E220d.

I've arranged a test drive in the new E class for couple of hours at the end of the week. Any requests what should I check out? It's 220d with air suspension and most of the options.

Build quality mainly. But also Chassis dynamics, general comfort etc would be grand as well

Engine refinement, wind/road noise and handling.

Any creaking noises from trim such as center armrest, doors etc. and evidence of any cost cutting that is noticeable.

So how do we stand?

The Mercedes won. Final conclusion by AMuS:

"Just like the Mercedes' suspension, it also proves how enormous the engineering prowess of German manufacturers is. Yes, there's a current trend of bashing German car brands. But show us those hyped wonder cars from Tesla, Nio, Aiways, Build Your Dream—let them demonstrate that they can drive autonomously, comfortably, efficiently, and dynamically even close to the level of the 5 Series and E-Class. BMW has done an excellent job with the 5 Series, but Mercedes, especially with the latest E-Class on its own platform and equipped with a four-cylinder diesel, has created one of the best cars that will ever exist."

Do we have the full article somewhere?

Everyone who considers buying a car in this class and who is fortunate enough to choose between an E class and 5er, should first read the automotorundsport test. What a car!
