E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)


The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

The w214 is in fact a huge improvement over the w213.
I am very interested and cant wait to sit inside the cabin of the W214 and compare to my W213. The interior build quality of my W213 is its only major noticeable weakness. It is still built well, but there are 3 areas in the cabin where I noticed it's not rock-solid like in previous E-class models. The creaking noise of the central armrest cover and the top of the drivers door only when you place pressure on them is irritating and also the top of the instrument cluster actually flexes if you push down on the edge, which is unforgivable in such an expensive car.

Otherwise dynamically and in NVH/ride comfort it is excellent.
 
This conversation has increased a lot my interest in the matter. I will go as well to my local dealership to sit inside the new E and C. And will do the same with the BMWs.

It is curious though, that the W206 seems to be so cheap in terms of interior quality and yet the W214 is not that poorly finished.

Could it be that MB has finally realised all this debate hurts the brand so much?

First quick thoughts

- you cannot adjust the steering wheel much in the direction towards the driver. Kind of weird. I have the feeling it is more adjustable in the c class

- there's is this stupid central console edge, that you just feel all the time when you properly man spread your legs

- there's not much glare from the ambient lighting at the night, which is cool. Someone really thought about that.

- the cabin build is great. No creaking sounds whatsoever. The sound isolation is top notch.

- does not have the same weird brake travel as in w206. I was used to it right away.

- start / stop button is hidden behind the steering wheel. I was reaching away instinctively
 
Beautiful. Now which version of the “53” setup will it get? The GLE version or the CLE version?

Probs the GLE version.
Will need to compete with the i5 M60, so it'll need about 550bhp.

Again though, they could probably achieve that with a tuned version of the i6 alone, with no PHEV. But likelihood is GLE setup. Mercedes, or rather AMG seem to be allergic to developing their own hot i6 engine.

The interior spec on this T model looks great, I really like the half microfiber and MB Tex, it probably feels nicer to touch and better on warmer days than the full leather. The light colour trim on center console and passenger dash is top notch. Only disappointment is the door panels which look perhaps a bit too plain in all black.
