8x8 🤣

Not sure if this has been posted before but he has positive things to say on his initial back seat drive in the C Class EQ. The space in the back seems decent considering he is a big man.

is it me or the car looks big for a car in it's class!!Btw I like what I am seeing so far and I am very optimistic that it will look good one it will be revealed

Remember when Mercedes said they were cutting the number of models to slim down? I said it then, they’re only cutting models that don’t sell, i.e. coupes and roadsters. Now they’re adding models and variants of them everywhere. They said they were cutting models to cut down on confusion lol. So much for that. Same model on two different platforms is the new thing, one gas and one voltage. The new reality.

Guys!! i think i understand why invested so much in the EQ cars now.

Remember the F700?:
IMG_4837.webp

This concept car was a car destined for chauffeur levels of luxury whilst fuel efficienct since there was a distress of oil & so forth. It was a Future S-class in a way.

It has a 1.8L DiesOtto engine with a 15kw electric Motor

How did the public react to it you may ask? Everyone LOVED it :

They Overglazed it.

So obviously seeing such a reaction to a product as a company/brand, Mercedes thought… “Hey this might be a good idea!”. I guess they went back & forth in the 2010s with this EQ idea and also how people like the design/shape of this weird Automobile that people see as ‘the future’.

Maybe somewhere within their EQ Journey also came the rise of EV power & how that could possibly make the EQ cars even more efficient. What did they do? Invested alot of money in the EQ cars & EV technology overall.

So we got this:

IMG_4881.webp

These are shaped the same.

Which gets me wondering, Why aren’t the EQ cars a Success even though people liked the F700?

The idea is essentially. You pick the drivetrain, the same way you used to pick the engine displacement.
Obviously the C-class and the C-class EV are not 100% unified in terms of design like the i5 and i7. But I would wager that Mercedes' ultimate goal is that visually there's no difference between them, but the underpinning architecture is different to make the most of the advantages of each platform.

Even the i3 and G50 3er will look notably different. But they'll be similar enough to where there should be no real distinction between the two products to people who aren't absolute anoraks like we are.

Because the EQS was positioned as the electric S Class. If the S Class had not ever entered the expectation building game, this model may have as well been a success. At a more reasonable, non-S Class price. Instead, they teased it with a concept that totally set the wrong expectation as well (looked way better than the production model).

People liking a concept means nothing vs buying the production car in the showroom, especially when it looks nothing like the concept.

The EQE almost coulda been something looking at in that shot.

The problem with the EQ cars were that they were not only weird looking but they were ridiculously priced. I’m dying to know if the price reductions have moved the sales needle here in the USA. At their core they were solid EVs but the packaging and prices were terrible.

The point is, PEOPLE loved it 🤣🤷‍♂️

So i feel like people Misled Mercedes, Why didn’t they deny it with brute force like how they are denying the EQ Cars now?
You are right, the issue lies with the fact that the F700 and other F concepts remained fully Concepts. Nothing came out of them.

If we look at the design that inspired the EQ line - namely the EQS concept - its way, waaaay out there among the most beautiful Merc, and dare I say most beautiful car concepts ever. It was prefect in every way.

Why are the EQ cars hated so much? Because they could not execute this in real life - they promised something and could bot deliver. Whatever production model came out - even at and EQS level - it was lacking in every way. The general shape was just so slightly more bloated that it ruined it. The front angle and plastic parts were different enough that it made all the difference in the world. Mercedes went from being special, a pioneer to milking a hypecow, and with the current shitty GL cars with stars everywhere they still do that.
