E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

Saw the new E class parked in the street for the first time. Wanted to take pics but it was gone when I got out of the store.

Side looks awesome, front ok at best and the rear.....my gosh the rear. Horrible! Round, nondescript with fugly lights. Quite simply put the worst rear in ages on a Benz. Still probably better than a 5er which I have yet to see.
you say that because you didn't see the rear lights on, a sight 😏

New Mercedes E-Class Estate 2024 review: packed with tech, but lacking a soul

The plug-in hybrid E 300 e powertrain provides fast and efficient motoring, but it severely impacts the amount of space on offer in the new E-Class Estate

have seen a few 5ers driving around. They have massive road presence in a good way

Name 20 below 100k then. Try it.

In the U.S., I'd say:

  1. Toyota Supra
  2. Mazda Miata
  3. Toyota Corolla GRMN
  4. Toyaburu GT86/BRZ
  5. Ford Mustang
  6. Chevrolet Corvette
  7. Alfa Romeo Giulia
  8. Cadillac CT4 Blackwing
  9. Cadillac CT5 Blackwing
  10. Ford F150 Raptor
  11. Acura Integra Type S
  12. Honda Civic Type R
  13. Porsche Boxster
  14. Porsche Cayman
  15. BMW 2-series (in some forms)
  16. Subaru WRX
  17. Hyundai Elantra N
  18. MINI Cooper
  19. Audi RS3
  20. Lexus IS500

Honorable mention: Lexus LC500, which starts at $99,800 and Dodge Challenger, which just now went out of production

The commonality in all those cars is that they're either dedicated sports cars, muscle cars or they're the Sportified variants. Idk what character the Ford F150 has, because that car is the definition of an appliance vehicle as I can think of.

None of these cars are just comfortable family sedans.

What kind of "soul" would you even expect from a car like an E-class? What do you want from a mid-sized family sedan that it is lacking, character/soul-wise?

I guess you could plonk an M177 in it. Would that add "character" or "soul"?

Is character/soul defined by the displacement, cylinder count and power of the cars engine?

F150 Raptor, not the standard truck.

Yeah I can live with that list. But in my country a Civic Type R is already 100k sadly LOL
My honorable mention would be the Hyundai Ionic 5 N.......the only BEV on the list which arguably has a soul.....and it's the world's best EV.

The older the more soul, basically. They suck it out of the car with AI, is the rumor.

Is character/soul defined by the displacement, cylinder count and power of the cars engine?

It's defined by something intangible. Either it has or hasn't, there is no textbook on how to create a soul.

I Dont do below 100k

SO hawt.....raaawwrrr

The article from AutoExpress read like it came from an amateur IMO.
Lots of fluff and no substance to get you propelled to draw a conclusion from a written standpoint.

I imagine a seasoned member of the forum can do a much better job at writing a review of the E-Estate than what is written there.

Yeah cause I’m ready to see it. I’m betting it will get the hybrid 53 treatment from the GLE53. I know it’s going be a looker. So not worried about that.
