E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

The problem with the W214 models given for testing is that Mercedes has supplied the full spec versions of the AMG E220d which comes with virtually everything you can think of and thus has a massive price tag that is far higher than its rivals. I reckon the equipment list on these top priced and specced E220d AMG are much longer than was equipped on the rival Audi and BMWs offered for the tests.
And some of it you can't even get on the others. Like air suspension and the MBUX superscreen, that aren't available on the 5er.

I was able to see the new E class in person today.

The exterior design works well, the low, wide front grill looks aggressive, which suits the AMG line. The double headlights are very distinctive, especially when the DRL LEDs are on. The overall shape still requires some getting used to. The illuminated edges surrounding the grill is cool.

As for the interior, the build quality is similar to the W213, the dashboard and centre console feels well assembled. The plastics and trimming on the door panel is a grade above the C class, as it should be. The plastic panels are softer to touch, including the lower section of the door. The door pockets are lined.

This car is equipped with the "hyper screen" Personally there are simply far too many screens to be useful or helpful for the driver or passenger.

The interior space and seat comfort is also similar to the w213.

Apologies for the out of sequence photos, it is rather tricky to upload everything from the phone.

Mmmm I think the E180 will be slightly sluggish with that extra 200kg weight over the C180. With 125Kw and 250nm I am guessing it will be a 9.5sec 0-100 car. The E200 will be the better choice.

Saw the new E class parked in the street for the first time. Wanted to take pics but it was gone when I got out of the store.

Side looks awesome, front ok at best and the rear.....my gosh the rear. Horrible! Round, nondescript with fugly lights. Quite simply put the worst rear in ages on a Benz. Still probably better than a 5er which I have yet to see.
