E-Class (W214) [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

I'm sure the new class will sell a lot, it will be a big mistake to definitively end its cycle in seven years

Mercedes-Benz E-Class review

"Verdict:

Few cars deliver the breadth of ability of the new E-Class – a car created as much for taxi fleets as individual high-end luxury motoring. The E220d represents the more conservative end of the range. But what it lacks in excitement it more than makes up for in overall ability, comfort, practicality and economy.

If you’re in the market for a luxurious executive saloon but aren’t quite ready to commit to a fully electric car, then the E300e is a compelling choice. Not only is it relaxing to drive, plenty quick enough and packed with tech but, because it has a class-leading pure-electric range, it’s also extremely frugal. On our spirited test drive, it returned a respectable 101mpg. Factor in a claimed 18g/km of CO2 and it should also make for a relatively cheap company car.

Mercedes has yet to announce pricing for the estate, but the saloon to start from around £55,000 for an E200 or E220d, rising to £69,520 for an E300e plug-in hybrid. Serious money, but then the equally new BMW 5 Series is in line for a price hike as well."

They're impressive passenger cars. And yes we've had them.

The E300e is the one to have. 71mile electric range + ICE engine. Best of both worlds.

However it sucks that rear wheel steering isn’t an option on estate and won’t be available in the UK at all.

The E300e only works for certain driving patterns. There have been cases with Mercedes plug-in hybrids where the driver has driven in EV mode only for 6+ months without the ICE starting once. This has resulted in the petrol engine seizing up (due to rust or oil and petrol mixing). Apparently Mercedes says you must drive with the ICE engaged for at least 30 minutes continuously once a week every week to avoid the aforementioned problem. Now the EV range being even longer with the new E-Class, it’s even easier to just drive in EV mode, creating problems down the line. But yeah, as long as you do at least one long-ish motorway trip a week, then it’s fine. But if you use it for your 50km a day commute only, you might encounter issues.

I for one wouldn’t get the hybrid. Full EV or full ICE is the way forward I think

That is bizarre. Most plug-in hybrids have an "engine maintenance mode" where the engine will run no matter what for a period of time to prevent oil dilution and other issues.

EDIT: I actually just looked up some forum posts on the GLC plug in, we are not having the same issue over here in the U.S. They also report that the gas engine will stay on in certain situations to ensure the engine is being maintained.

The more I see videos of the new E-class the more I like it very much. I still think the dash looks best without the superscreen and with standard wood or other trim on the passenger side. Very classy indeed,

Like this all terrain more and more, they nailed it this time with rear end, much better than before and dare to say challenging to allroad

Thomas has positive comments about the interior build quality of the W214, he says that with this generation Mercedes has taken a step upwards with the interior quality of the W214, he even says he thinks the interior quality is better than in the W223 S-class!!

Yeah I saw that. I really hope that is true. S-Class facelift should strive to top whatever improvements that they've made in the new E (again per Thomas).
