E-Class W214 [Official] New Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W214)

The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive car is a lineup consisting of three body styles, the W214 sedan, S214 estate, and the X214 all terrain estate, which are vehicles produced by German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group since 2 May 2023.

An E560 V8 is unnecessary and most likely would not sell well due to costs. The M256 I-6 in the E450 pulls hard and is quick enough.
I think a 435hp I6 E500 would be a nice upgrade come facelift time and then the E350 can finally get 300hp.

Oh I understand. But it's not about need is it?

I was referring to a more practical scenario. One of the salesmen at the main dealer in Kansas said most E-Class buyers here don`t care about engine size. Its the engine smoothness that counts to them. He also said the new E-Class is the best-selling Mercedes sedan in the area.

I wish I could invite some of you to test drive the new E450 with its 375hp I6. You would be surprised at how fast it is in real life. It is utterly composed and predictable at hi speeds. A 60hp increase would probably take its 0-60 mph in the high 3-second range which is E53 territory. With its 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds, the E450 is in no need of a power increase IMO. I agree about the E350 come f/l time. It should already have the 300hp on tap.

Agreed. The I6 in our S450 is just lovely with the 9 speed. The days of gruff sixes from Benz are gone.

Mercedes has to be lying about the power figure of the M256 in the E450 in particular. How is it the CLE53 AMG has 449hp, 70hp more yet the E450 is 0.2 seconds slower to 60mph than the CLE53 AMG? The S500 is rated at 429hp and is about .3 seconds slower than the E450 which is still impressive.

True, and understand that. It's why BMW is also getting rid of the M550i.
However there's something evocative or a V8 E class.

I wish I could drive one too, but alas.

The German car magazines have measured the CLE53 at 4.1sec to 100km/h which is about 3.9sec to 60mph. C&D measured the E450 at 4.4sec and 4.1sec for the CLE450, so the gap does seem to be very close.

It's quick, but what the W214 really needs is a twin-turbo V8 with more power than God and 4Matic to tame all that power. Come on Mercedes... Bring back the E63.

The figures are not too far off the previous E63S which did about 3.3sec and 11.4sec in some tests. So not a bad effort and maybe the new M5 won't be that much quicker.

Interesting drive comparison with the W213 E53 AMG vs the new W214 E450.
