I never imagined that there would be consensus amongst the media that the 7 series is king of the segment.

This "revolution" of the G70 could have started much earlier but they got scared and instead of this beauty that "they made us believe" they would make, they made the lukewarm G11, the result they obtained speaks for itself, the S-Class took off like never before and went to the clouds, now trying to get it down is more difficult, but luckily this time with the G70 they had the balls to compete and not just participate.

It's still a shame to think that it was not made, and that what could have been one of the best 7 series will no longer be made, (same with de CS concept), sorry for the off-topic lapse

After seeing the whole video, the final verdict came as a surprise to me. Up until then, I would have sworn the S was the winner of this test. But apparently the feeling of Matt (the 7er feels more special) was decisive for the outcome.

Well, based on what I have seen of both cars, I can see why anyone would say the 7er feels more special. Probably for the same reasons the S-Class used to be more special. This time is the BMW the one that feels not only one but several steps above the 5er, with an entirely different design and a great sense of ocasion.

In terms of design, I prefer the S-Class, but I believe the way to go on this segment is with something entirely different to the rest of the line up.

In all the key disciplines the S won. At least, that’s how I see it. Emotional aspects, like sense of occasion or feeling more special, which play a role as well in deciding which car to buy, are less important in the long run.
Edit: the title of the video is Which Is Best. Clearly not the 7er.

Sorry Mick, I have watched the video now. Which are those key disciplines you refer to? My impression watching the video is that the 7er is more impressing in general, faster, with a higher quality interior, more efficient… And the points the S-Class win might be attributed to the 7er being an M version.

Not sure about other tests, but this one seems to clearly go for the 7er with go reason.

The more comfortable, more quiet and relaxed drive, for the driver as well as the rear passengers, the better steering, quicker response on the throttle (no pause = smoother) and the much better efficiency (Mpg as well as the achievable distance driving solely electric).
What if’s in the sense of this being a M version are irrelevant. It’s the cars tested that count. I might as well refer to the fact, the S wasn’t equipped with it’s best interior option.
But, my dear SKY, I really don’t care that much which car wins in these kind of tests. I was only wondering that the final verdict was completely different from what I was expecting after watching the video.

tbf the comparison was a bit flawed,he took the m version of 7 series with a normal S class,he should’ve took the S63 for the comparison to be more balanced

This sort of clips comparing 3 flagship cars don't do justice to one or another

For example :

1.He points out that BMW's rear screen is better. But it is not. It's an absolute nightmare to use it , because it's a FireOS emulation. So navigating on anything means you have a on-screen remote simulator , not a proper touch interface.

Also Audi is the best of all 3 , because it's Android based OS , and also each screen is removable from the seat.

Not to mention that the MB is missing them in this clip...

2. Both Audi and MB have that "lounge" like rear seat option, with leg support , but the cars in the video don't have it. Only the BMW has it , and of course , it is better.

3.The rear wheel steering and 4Matic versions of the S class , it might not be available in UK , but in the rest of the world , it is.

4.That ride quality or feeling is heavily influenced by those rims. Of course BMW will feel "sporty" with those massive wheels.

In conclusion , all cars should have had the same engine/version , same rims , and same specs (full spec)

It was understandable that some feel that this cannot be, but tons of comparisons are already published here, with the same result by a large majority in favor of the 7 series in similar specs between one and the other.
it’s a safety aspect, I guess. Overtaking and crossing traffic intersections goes faster.
It seems that you are talking about a 49 hp Fiat Uno, come on
influenced by those rims.
Yes, the cumulonimbus in relation to the coordinates of the winds from the east to the southwest at the time of the test played against Mercedes

In conclusion, the 7 series won the test, like so many others and here cannot accept it-
It doesn't hurt to open your mind a little and Google the other comparisons if you need.

At this level, managing to be more "Special" than the "best car in the world" without looking for the fifth leg of the cat is worth highlighting.

You poor soul...Haven't understand a damn thing from my post

Name one , please.

Well , CarWow test is one hell of a institution. I wonder if they forgot the medals home.

FYI , I like 7 series , and I want one (I am actually looking for one) .

But I , as oppose to you and some other dudes around here , am unbiassed. And been like this over the years , even tought I've been called MB fanboy , Tesla fanboy , and so on....

What does this mean ? (because many of you don't know this word ) . It means that if "my favourite brand" has a bad product , I don't defend it. Or if other product is better than my own favorite , I accept it.

What I wrote in the post above are FACTS , not words. That rear screen is USELESS. Until they will release an update to make it with a proper UI/touch interface. FACT

And MB & BMW did not have the rear seats executive option. FACT (and that influences the rear seat test)

And MB did not have rear steering option. FACT (and that influences the drive and steering test)

And MB did not have 4matic option . FACT ( and that influences the drive and acceleration test)

But from all my post , you ignored all because you haven't had any argument , and chose to throw the "size rim does not matter" thing. Like , physics don't apply...

Name one , please.
Autogefühl, our "animal skin friend"
You can look for the rest in web magazine publications, YouTube or right here in the corresponding threads, but you asked me to name one

So, it makes no sense for me to answer the rest since what I write is not understandable.

In real life traffic several tenth of seconds up to a second or more (here’s looking at you Audi V6 TDI) can mean life or death. No kidding.
Internet people act like , if you get a 500-600-700-800hp car , you get it to drive 500km/h.

But it's all about that fast "response" . Exactly what you said. If ever needed , it could mean life or death.

The MB Bux of MB is not as fast as the BMW. So when you are operating and driving it could mean a matter of life and death.

Do you understand now the nonsense of this "discussion" between throttle response and life and death?
