the old is 10x better imo
The old g11 in the pre lci was ok but the lci really transforms the car into a beauty. The new 7er in the right specs is a very good looking and imposing car and dare I say that it it has more presence than it's direct rivals and like if it was moved to a higher class .Recently I have seew it again both on road and at dealership and man what a very big imposing car the new 7er is.

I'm still not a fan of the looks, but... I prefer the chrome grille to the black grille. Aventurine red, however, doesn't do any favors. It has to be Sapphire black or Dravit Grey with the chrome grille, of course.

It's fugly.

And I wouldn't be surprised if it's humongous size is also costing it a lot of private sales.

3 months after launch, you can already find cars with close to AUD$100k discounts here down under.
It's too radical, controversial and polarising (fancy ways of saying it ain't pretty).
Roofline, DLO, beltline, Hoff-kink, surfacing - all good for me.
Front-end is just a shit-show.
I'm totally off it now, along with the new 5er. Even facelifted G20 is a slight step backwards (but still backwards at that) and I can't come to terms with the new M2 either. Rough being a BMW fan at the moment. Thank heavens for BMW M3 Touring - it's so fine, it may just make up for all the others.

Dealers own words, "Mohammed don't you want to get dad out of the S-class into the world's cheapest 7-series." (Very confidence inspiring for a car that was literally just launched here.)

Polite response: "Thank you. But he's had a look at it and there is absolutely no way that's going to happen."

Looks aside, the SWB S is all the car he needs, with only 1 or 2 on board 90% of the time. The 7's interior overwhelmed him and the size would prove absurd in most scenarios.

And no, I repeat, I'm not a BMW hater. I just realised the other day BMW currently dominates my immediate family's vehicle choices:
Ex wife - X3
Me - M4
Sister - X1 arriving in August (To be fair it would have been a new GLC were she not such a bad driver. The X1 is just simply better than the GLA and GLB)
Sister in law - X5
Brother - Landcruiser 300 series (along with a G63 arriving next month, which I have made clear I will have custody of at least 1 weekend a month)
Mum - Macan
Dad - S-class

I was responsible for all 4 BMW acquisitions and BMW gets a lot of their cars right and the model cycles just seem to fit with our purchase timings.

Extended family it's an easy win for Mercedes. 60% Mercedes, 20% BMW and 20% other.
