8-Series: Exterior is nice, but interior doesn't have flagship appeal in design and doesn't look more exiting than a G20 interior. In fact, I think the Z4 Dashboard and door cards are sexier. Why don't you meet halfway and get an M550i or M850i? Those cars exist to split those wants in half.
M550: In the UK I would be better off buying an M5. Bang for buck it's a fabulous performance car. However if I wanted a G30 BMW, then I would already be in one.
When I ordered the M140i and an X2 2L petrol in 2019, below is the man math spread sheet I used to evaluate which cars to order. Discounts back then were steep. Times are different now, however discounts are lower APR on high end models are slowly returning. As you can see, the M140i was an absolute steal at £25k for a 6 cylinder 0-62mph in 4.5sec(With LSD fitted) car. Today, a G20 M340i with the same engine and gearbox is double that at £54k.
7-Series and 6/8-Series are slow sellers and have historically always had 25-35% discount offers all year around, sometimes with 0% APR!
