Why don't you meet halfway and get an M550i or M850i? Those cars exist to split those wants in half.
8-Series: Exterior is nice, but interior doesn't have flagship appeal in design and doesn't look more exiting than a G20 interior. In fact, I think the Z4 Dashboard and door cards are sexier.

M550: In the UK I would be better off buying an M5. Bang for buck it's a fabulous performance car. However if I wanted a G30 BMW, then I would already be in one.

When I ordered the M140i and an X2 2L petrol in 2019, below is the man math spread sheet I used to evaluate which cars to order. Discounts back then were steep. Times are different now, however discounts are lower APR on high end models are slowly returning. As you can see, the M140i was an absolute steal at £25k for a 6 cylinder 0-62mph in 4.5sec(With LSD fitted) car. Today, a G20 M340i with the same engine and gearbox is double that at £54k.

7-Series and 6/8-Series are slow sellers and have historically always had 25-35% discount offers all year around, sometimes with 0% APR!

Depreciation is bad, indeed.
It's why I'd only buy electric in this class since EVs hold their value much better.
I7 over the budget ?
Having slept on it. I think the i7 will be variant to have:

-Quietest
-Smoothest power delivery
-Ability to park in wide and safe EV only bay.
-No congestion charge when driving into central London
-Rolls Royce Spectre drivetrain at less than 3rd of a cost.

Exactly. The only thing smoother than a Rolls V12 is a Rolls EV.
You pretty much are getting the best of the best at a "reasonable" price.
I really don't like the way G70 looks but I quite like it that the i7 is in a class of its own as of right now.
It's the only true luxury EV at the moment (until Spectre arrives) and while most people are turned off by its size, the space it offers is actually the main reason I see it as an attractive proposition from BMW. Size and space wise it's a class above the S-Class and I quite like that.

In the context of list price of cars having increased across the board, the i7 is actually reasonably priced given the bespoke interior, exterior and cutting edge drivetrain. All the excess gizmos like rear wheel steering, rear seat heating, B&W sound system, 4 zone climate control, 360 degrees cameras and Panoramic sunroof are standard. In the UK the i7 cost £108,000 which isn't not that much more than an M3 Touring at £80,000 before adding 1 or 2 options packs.
